Abele told police he was driving east when the child darted from a parked bus into his path. The incident marks the city's sixth traffic fatality this year.

White the radio flash brought first news of the sudden death of President Roosevelt to Carry and every other city of the nation. The Journal extra edition was selling on the streets here nearly two hours ahead of out of town papers. The extra was selling in Union City far ahead of any other papers sent into that town. Demand was record breaking with nearly a hundred boys and youths and one young girl mobbing the Journal building for allotments. Over 2200 copies were sold in Corry compared with the usual 1200 to 1500 for extras.
