Members of the Worry Area Industrial Development Corp learned that equipment has been purchased for installation in a proposed plastic plant scheduled to open here in July. Theron Reed of Corry reported at 8 30 last night an unidentified vehicle crossed the center and forced his 1960 sedan off West Main near Shady Avenue. His car struck a speed limit sign, suffering $165 damage. the other driver fled and the license plate could not be obtained.
Mrs. Mary Gilger Smith aged 100 was honored by Erie County Medical Society with an engraved certificate. Dr. David D. Dunn presented the award at the Brown home in West Frederick street, noting she was born in 1860 near Rockland Township. She recalled Civil War memories and cited living life in 24 nourish stages, a view echoed by the doctors.
An Erie County civil court jury reduced Donald Mc Cray’s claim against Al Holton of Al's Dairy Bar from 5841 to 3275 for construction work on the dairy, with adjustments during the trial. The final verdict totaled 9075 after deliberations.
State Police nabbed 21 year old Cory Beasanson of Canterville after a 20 month hunt for a jewel theft. Beasanson allegedly entered Frank Dempsey's Spartansburg area home in August 1958 and stole an amount of silver spoons valued at about 35 dollars. He pled guilty before Justice Walter Domke but the charges were dropped after restitution and court costs were paid.
A 7-year-old pupil, Connie Rook of Bath, was fatally struck as she alighted from a Bath Central School bus on Spaulding Drive. She died at Davenport Memorial Hospital. Deputy Blakley will take witness statements as the driver John Kristman faces investigation. Dr. Roy Robinson withheld a death certificate pending inquiry.
