Washington report says the Airline Pilots Association found no evidence that Piedmont Airlines pilot George Lawrine 32 of Alexandria Virginia was in a bad mood or under tranquilizers before the Charlottesville crash on October 30. ALPA notes he had recent instruction from a Presbyterian psychologist and was reportedly in good spirits departing Washington National Airport. Twenty six of twenty seven aboard died.
High waters in the Allegheny River near New Kensington Pa hampered today’s efforts to locate Elizabeth Petrosky 40 who vanished from her home wearing pajamas and wrapped in a blanket police said the search began yesterday for the missing woman believed to be in the river

Erielle Jailed After Crash With Corry Motorist reports three traffic violation charges after a wild driving spree. The suspect, a 38 year old woman, allegedly fled the scene of a collision with Cynthia Williams of 112 East Frederick Street, causing about 5 dollars in damage. Strod was arrested after a second crash and held on a 500 dollar bond by Alderman Christoph. Theresa Barrow, 44, of Erle, witnessed the halted machine.
Corry area PTA officers voiced concern over low turnout at a high school PTA meeting and the looming post-prom party. With 426 members, only 17 attended, threatening funds for the April 18 celebration. organizers urged families to contribute and help plan a safe, supervised event for juniors and seniors.
Negroes gain strength as Galveston Texas and Nashville retail officials open or study desegregated lunch counters. The Nashville committee urges partial desegregation with a 60 day trial while Orangeburg and Memphis report multiple Breach of Peace convictions and disorderly conduct charges tied to campus protests.
In Geneva the western powers pressed Soviet Deputy Foreign Minister Valerian Zorin to seek new Moscow instructions to move the 10 nation disarmament conference from stalemate. France said Moscow showed willingness to discuss concrete disarmament measures while warning the Soviet plan for total world disarmament in four years is unrealistic. Zorin did not signal a request for free instructions and reaffirmed demand for Western approval of the Soviet plan. A Western source warned there is little chance of breaking the stalemate without Soviet flexibility, and the conference may adjourn at month end unless the Big Four summit in Paris May 10 changes the dynamic.
Southern senators pressing to slow the House civil rights measure held long sessions as they battled for changes. Senator Richard Russell led the Dixie group, arguing passage remains unlikely but possible by week’s end. Votes were scarce with a 4 hour session producing one tally and key amendments being debated.
