Coronado Approves Silver Strand Ranch Purchase for Growth
Coronado voters narrowly backed a $175,000 bond to buy the 231 acre Silver Strand ranch, ensuring elbow room for future growth. The final tally was 1212 yes to 441 no, with 1653 turnout from about 5400 registered voters. City officials say part of the land will be used to dispose of rubbish and planning will decide other uses. Rental funds from the Naval Amphibious Base will help pay the debt even if NAB is later sold to the Navy.
