Colts overwhelm Blue Tide in 31-12 win

The VFW Coronado Colts rallied from 12-4 halftime deficit to crush the San Pedro Blue Tide 31-12. A relentless defense yielded three safeties and multiple stops as Blaisdell and Berger connected for a 50 yard TD, Kreuger added the extra, Nelson scored, and Miner capped the late drive with a final TD pass as Coronado improved to four wins.

Underwater Demolition Command Changes At Coronado Base

Lt Commander William R. McKinney relieved Lt Commander Frank M. Romanick as Commander Underwater Demolition Teams Pacific at a ceremony at the U S Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. McKinney reported July for training for his new assignment and served as Gunnery Officer aboard the USS Franklin during the war earning the Navy Cross Purple Heart. Romanick was executive officer of UDT Three from Aug 1947 to Jan 1948.

Coronado's Green Wave defeated Chula Vista High 21 to 6 for its second straight Metro win. Storch and Voit scored in the first half, with Storch converting both touchdowns. Jim Voit added a 21 yard TD in the fourth quarter as Coronado's defense dominated and the game remained penalty free.

Public Relations Aide Appointed By Standard of California

Allison J. McNay is named supervisor of a new education division in Standard Oil Company of California's public relations department. He will direct petroleum education materials for students from primary to college levels and oversee classroom use of the Standard School Broadcast and motion picture service.
