Four Bond Issues Set for Coronado April Ballot
Four bond propositions approved by the Coronado City Council will appear on the April 13 ballot. Voters will decide on a Civic Building at 220000 dollars, Library improvements at 45000, Fire Department reconversion of the Police Station at 25000, and Hog Farm properties on Sliver Strand at 200000. A State Retirement Plan for city employees also appears for a later decision.

The Coronado Music Society reports $3365 raised toward a $6000 goal. Elsie Thompson, assistant treasurer, announced after a meeting at Mrs. Gilder D. Jackson Jr. home. Five summer concerts with a full orchestra directed by Nikolai Sokoloff are planned with the first in June at the High School Auditorium and later at the Hotel Del Coronado.

Coronado Ferry System Sold Ends Spreckels Era
The Coronado-San Diego Ferry operated by San Diego Electric Railway Co. sold to J L Haugh of Oakland ending Spreckels ownership dating to 1888. The deal with R L Regal marks the close of a family dynasty as Haugh plans to run four ferries and related transit operations employing over 1000 people. The San Diego and Coronado Ferry Co. will join City Transit Systems under Haugh. A 1948 Red Cross Drive kickoff luncheon is set for today at the Officers' Club Naval Air Station with John Crise as Drive Chairman and a full campaign staff announced.
