Coronado Considers $175000 Purchase for Silver Strand Ranch
Coronado voters will decide in a special election on buying 245 acres of the Silver Strand hog ranch between the bayside shoreline and the railroad tracks for municipal dumping. Coronado City Council Axes Bandels Post After Vote
After a heated session Council abolishes Bandels municipal post once held by Bandel since 1900. McEver and Stanley oppose, proposing immediate discharge or 80 days notice. Mayor Neal sets discharge for August 1 as compromise. Bandel, in poor health, had requested relief from duties in 1941 and remained unaware of the decision.

City employee Bandel accepts subordinate park post after 42 years
At age 79, Bandel agreed to step down as park superintendent to an assistant role at 100 dollars a month with 12.50 extra for car use. Council minutes from 1941 show the transition to an assistant position while awaiting a city employees retirement plan. Coronado voters later approved the retirement plan, but Bandel faces hardship as he contends his benefits depend on that plan.
