20 30 Club Faces Torain In Tijuana Basketball Mix

Coronado 20 30 Club adjourned to Tijuana last Monday to play Bordertown 20 30 Club in a basketball game. Spokesman Jim Caterina admitted the local club lost. Players Durland, Brown, Millar, Johnson, Skinner, Neely, White, Napolitano, and David defended the club’s honor while Dr J P Vernetti coached.

Girl Scouts Hear Of Conditions Abroad

At the 1948 Leaders' Association meeting in Balboa Park Scout House Mrs. Melville S. Brown of Coronado spoke on her Europe travels and the Clothes for Friendship program. She rode the same ship as Kentucky Girl Scouts who danced for Princess Elizabeth in London. Brown spoke to Brownie Troop 160 on England and Switzerland with pictures and souvenirs. Troop 164 hiked the beach and gathered shells. they made a scrapbook of valentines for the Vauclain Home. Troop 257 visited the Fire and Police Stations.

Coronado Women's Club Plans Founders' Day Lunch

The Coronado Women's Club marks its first anniversary with a Founders' Day Lunch on Wednesday March 8 at 12 30 in the Terrace Room of the Hotel del Coronado. A musical program features a two violin trio and piano by local performers. An important business meeting follows Monday March 8 at 1 30 in the Episcopal Parish Hall to elect a nominating committee and revise by laws.

Scout Troops Tour Local Sites And Prep New Members

Intermediate Troop 89 toured Hage's dairy and the Showley Candy factory last week and will spend the night at Scout House Friday. Troop 38 toured Coronado Laundry while pursuing the Housekeeping Badge. Mrs. Richard Currier becomes co-leader. Troop 161 visited Monty Lewis' studio for drawing and painting badge work. Mariner Ship 21 joined KFMB radio recently and will invest four new members Darlee Kracht Blaine Kracht Katherine Kurtz Dolly Reame at next meeting.

Birth of a grandson announced at Hotel del Coronado anniversary ball

Highlight of the Coronado Anniversary Ball at Hotel del Coronado was the birth announcement for John Ernest Tiedemann, grandson of Ernest Tiedemann. Mrs Harvey Moore hosted a birthday for her 91 year old cousin and hosted guests from Maryland and Florida. A Hong Kong Church of England bishop and a party of Chinese clergy visit Coronado, with events at the Parish House. Navy family headed to Guam for two years, with Barbara Cody Hughes and parents sailing Thursday. relatives drove to San Francisco to see them off.
