The Soroptimist Club announces future meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month will be held at the El Cordova.
A large Coronado gathering celebrated the silver wedding of Gen. and Mrs. Gilder D. Jackson with Mrs. Richard Knight. Guests enjoyed a buffet lunch, garden displays, and silver themed attire. Mrs. Knight plans a northward move around the 20th. Also noted is a Christmas Arts and Crafts Exhibition at the Coronado Art Gallery featuring works by local artists and a near 200 member drive for the Coronado Art Association.
Mrs Hadleigh Marsh of Bozeman Montana arrives in Coronado to stay with her sister Mrs Melville Brown. She writes Chip's Corner a children's column with Letters from Chip munk and has organized a letter service sold through bookstores nationwide. Chip now has many young correspondents from across America and Japan. Dr Marsh husband is a sheep disease expert with Montana State Agricultural College and left November 18 for Australia to represent wool growers and livestock boards. He will visit their son in Sydney.
Mrs Victor Jergens arriving with two children at the Coronado Club after a year long South Pacific voyage visiting Hongkong Malaya Singapore Java and Australia She will winter in Coronado with her family and has ties to the community including a past stint with the Coronado Players.Schooling children keeps her from accompanying her husband into India and China.
The Coronado Soroptimists entertained Brownie Troop No. 64 and leader Mrs Elinore Tagg at Colony Cafe last Friday. Brownie Carol Tagg introduced members Martha Dubleman Joan Quijada Sandra Scanlon Jane Snyder Sherry Wray Marcia White and Madeline Vossberg who spoke on their projects. Mrs Honore Douglas Girl Scout leader spoke and Mrs Tagg answered questions about the Brownie activities.
Lt. Comdr Heft will speak at the library hour tomorrow between 4 and 5 PM about his missions in China during the past two years. He will answer questions and share adventures. If he must leave suddenly, Lt. Comdr Brooke will cover and discuss the USS Tarawa’s global voyage.
Mr. and Mrs. Igor Gorin and Mr. Endit will be entertained at supper after the concert tonight at the home of Capt. and Mrs. R.8. Davis. Other guests include Capt. and Mrs. Harold Crosby, Capt. and Mrs. Roger D. Macky, Capt. and Mrs. John Owsley, Capt. and Mrs. Earle F. Evans, Mrs. Paul C. Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Vicarius, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Anderson, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stitt.
Maj. Winalls Waggaman was elected president at the Coronado Flower Association meeting, replacing retiring Capt. H. H. Ritter. Waggaman, from Washington, has prior posts including Annapolis Chamber of Commerce president and Military Order of World Wars Post Commander in Chief. Apr 23 and 24 set for next year’s Annual Flower Show.
The Woman's Committee of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church will host its annual Bazaar and Home-Cooked Food Sale Friday starting at 10 a.m. at 1110 C Avenue the former Deb Shop in Crown Circle. Mrs. Clifford Thomas is committee president and Mrs. C Saacule ton is chairman.
Miss Grace J. Cahill former Chamber of Commerce secretary will marry Thomas F. Meece of Yuma Arizona tomorrow at 5 p.m. in Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church. Rev K B Carson will officiate with Mrs Frederick C Coburn attending the bride and Dr W B Pernell as best man. A reception follows at Mrs Melville B Brown's home. The couple will honeymoon in Northern California and Mexico.
Intermediate Girl Scout troop 247 and leaders Mrs Wiggington and Mrs Davies will be invested in a candlelight ceremony at Coronado Methodist Church this afternoon. Mrs Johnson will officiate as neighborhood chairman. Following the ceremony mothers will be served refreshments by troop members. Recipients include Ann Weise Karen Johnson Patty Isely Betty Ferguson Louise Nichols Mary Ann Powell Sheila Sanders Linda Vallery Sharon Greenlee Sherry Scott and Marilyn Lamberton. Fourth Pastime Party set as Gen Henry D. Styer Post 2422 stops Saturday dances and hosts a fourth Pastime Party at Sixth and Orange. public invited for an enjoyable evening.
Mrs Graves, vocational chairman of Christian Social Relations, will address the Woman's Auxiliary of Christ Episcopal Church at the regular parish house meeting next Tuesday at 2 30 in the afternoon.
