Desperate Searcy County killer shot near Western Grove
Willis Sitton a notorious St. Joe resident who killed Elliot on Buffalo last fall was shot and killed by a boy named John Allen near Western Grove Boone county last week. Allen and two companions confronted Sitton at widow Mrs. Reeves home at midnight after Sitton and others abused the boy. Sitton drew a pistol and fired hitting Sitton as he raised a whisky bottle.

Fire destroys large Lester Mill plant near Helena
The Lester Mill Company plant near Helena was nearly wiped out by fire on the 9th. The dry kiln, recently erected, planer, lumber on the yards about 3,000,000 feet, and six loaded cars were lost. The plant was owned by Bratt Bros and a St. Louis capitalist, Mr. Pierce. Estimated loss ranges from $60,000 to $75,000.
