Geo M Street of Argenta vanished from his home around August 1900. Letters from St Louis hinted at a Mississippi River drowning. Street faced heavy debt and a $5,000 life policy is being sued by Equitable in federal court at Little Rock. Jeff D Marshon testified he saw Street at a California race track on April 20. The death remains doubtful and the case remains a mystery.

In Hot Springs an Omaha visitor, T. J. Wilson, was robbed of 175 and assaulted near the depot. He was dragged toward a departing train and run over, losing his left leg below the knee. Suspects G. C. James and C. D. Etu were arrested after Wilson identified them. The case moved through legal channels toward penitentiary terms.
Jas A Tiernan of St Louis chief engineer and T J Laurance assistant draftsman have set up offices at Fort Smith and begun a preliminary survey from Fort Smith toward the Indian and Oklahoma territories. The route will extend about forty miles from Fort Smith and reach the city, with the project divided into three divisions covering the original plan. One branch runs from Fort Smith to South McAlester then to a Frisco connection between Holdenville and Denison Texas.
Warm weather dominated the week with light beneficial rains. Farm work advanced rapidly as corn planting nears completion though some replants due to poor stands. Cotton planting widespread with early crops needing replanting. Wheat oats Irish potatoes and garden crops doing well. light frost reported in some areas and fruit outlook favorable.
A federal judge made permanent the injunction against the Arkansas Railroad Commission to prevent joint through rates with other lines on the Arkansas Central's Paris to Fort Smith route. The line, 43 miles, was initially exempt from joint rate plans but later included. In a separate note, Bill Moore of Texarkana was shot and killed by neighbor Tobe Jones.
Judge Grace told the Jefferson county grand jury to investigate the actions of Prosecuting Attorney Sorrels at his request. Sorrels says enemies allege crimes in office, but he proclaims his innocence.
Miss Mosher national lecturer for the Women's Christian Temperance Union is touring Arkansas delivering talks and promoting temperance ideals across the state.
Deputy Cagle and Dan Karr engage in a brutal struggle at Karr's house after warrant arrests. Karr is badly wounded and Cagle sustains multiple injuries from shotgun blasts and a beating by Mrs. Karr as the combat escalates.
R G Suddeth a deputy United States marshal was removed from office and is on bond to answer impersonating a pension officer. The charge stems from alleged acts connected to Mrs Kymes Montgomery county widow of a federal soldier who sought a pension. He claims eight days of depositions for ten dollars and denies any irregularity.

The United States Geological Survey outlines division of labor for Arkansas in the coming year. George S. Adams, assistant geologist, will supervise continued stratigraphy studies in the northwestern state. The Murfreesboro quadrangle covering about 1000 square miles west of Hot Springs will be surveyed.
Geo Pickett, a Pine Bluff police officer, was shot and killed by Gev Woolfork after approaching a house in a suspected smallpox case. Woolfork and his brother claimed the officers were after them and opened fire. Rule Alexander, also of Pine Bluff, fractured his skull leaping from a movie train during a stealing attempt.
W M Kavanaugh of Little Rock commander of the Arkansas division United Sons of Confederate Veterans asks all camps in the state to report the camp name camp number and membership total. He also asks whether each camp will attend Memphis and if so whether by the entire camp or a delegation.
