The town expects furnishings for the renovated Town House to ship on Oct 7 and employees to occupy rooms around Oct 1. Concord resident Winthrop William Sargent aged 33 of Monument Street was aboard the Boston to New York airliner that crashed and burned last week. He is a member of the municipal light board and was on a business trip. Stewardesses and crew guided passengers to safety after the aircraft overturned.
Tax collector Mary E Sheehan announces a land-taking sale in the selectmen s office at 10 am. Three Hemlock street lots, two Fern street lots, and two Seymour street lots in the White Pond section are due to be sold for unpaid taxes.
Concord resident Concord-Joseph Piazza of Northeast Construction Company reports about $1000 in damage to machinery working at the Warren Wheeler property off Virginia Road. Police are investigating the vandalism case.
Concord Boy Scout Sponsors and scouts of West Concord hold a fall paper drive Sunday afternoon rain or shine. Collectors should tie newspapers and magazines separately and leave at curbs before 1 p.m. for pickup. crews meet at the parking lot opposite the old high school on Stow Street or the old West Concord dump at 1 30. The next drive is January 8, 1961.
Concord Raymond Sundstrom will assume duties of Philip Gardner former undergraduate placement director at the college. Sundstrom a Bentley School graduate with public accounting experience joins the faculty and will oversee alumni placement. Maj Gen Otis Whitney attended a tribute for Maj Arthur T O Leary at Statler Hilton Boston. Tokyo reports a rabbit in Pyongyang claiming large litters in April June July and August.
Easter Seal Society warns that falls are the most common accidents affecting crippled children and adults in the area. Household hazards include toys nails shoes mops and stairs. Home checks and removal of these danger signals are urged to prevent injuries.
The Concord board of appeals will hold a public hearing Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Town House court room to act on five petitions. Chairman Edward K. True will preside.
