Concord selectmen re appoint Frederick J Robbins to a three year term on the board of appeals and name associate members for one year. Appointees include attorneys Blair Blair Jr McWalter Ball architect Finigan Comeau Day and lay members Bascom Kidder Mendrioli.
Concord Carlisle adult education enrollments reach nearly 60 for the seven year program with two thirds in practical arts and the rest in general education and business. Classes mostly meet at the new Concord Carlisle High School with some sessions at Emerson Building. United press report says the average American cotton farmer invests about 1000 dollars in land and equipment for each bale produced annually, according to the National Cotton Council.
Two 20 year olds, Bruce C. House and Robert B. Hayward, died in a late night crash on Lowell road near Concord center. House died at the scene after the car struck a pole and tree, Hayward died en route to Emerson Hospital. The crash occurred about 11 45 p m and was Concord’s first fatal of the year.
The largest steel works in the world is the U. S. Steel Corp. Gary Indiana plant, producing more than 7 million tons of steel each year.
The Concord Republican Town Committee announced Liang will open the 1960 campaign headquarters in Concord on Independence Court October 3. It will be staffed to answer questions about the campaign and candidates starting Monday. Further hours and events will be announced next week.
The Concord Carlisle Thespians will hold their first supper meeting on October 8. Elected officers include President Kathy Sullivan, Vice President Julie Cole, Treasurer Ruth Ames, Secretary Barbara Johnson, Historian Nancy Bond, and Membership Chair Kathi Lamonakis.
