Concord Native Captain Mara Killed in Sicily August 2

Concord recalls Captain John F. Mara 25 A. S. Army Lexington a Concord native killed in action August 2 in Sicily. Mara who graduated Boston University 1939 led ROTC cadets and earned the Silver Star for Tunisian campaign service. He is survived by a wife a daughter born last February his mother two brothers and two sisters.

A L Terry Addresses Concord Rotary Club

Seven-Run Rally Clinches Victory for CYO Juniors

Concord St Bernard's junior nine traveled to East Lexington last Sunday afternoon and won 14 to 4 over Sacred Heart parish. A seven run rally in the seventh inning sealed the victory. Next Sunday they host St James of Arlington Heights for a rubber game at ersoa Playground, then close the season September 26 at home against Sacred Heart Hast Lexington.

Royal Marine Band Concert Cancelled Turns to Dance Event

West Concord Reformatory Receives War Production Board Honor

The West Concord Massachusetts Reformatory is to be awarded the National Service pennant by the War Production Board for outstanding war effort. The institution excels in production and training with the Furniture Department transferring over 70 percent of output to federal agencies and the Textile Department working on two large government orders for blankets. Concord observed its 308th anniversary since incorporation on September 12. The town, once Musketaquid, was founded September 12, 1625, making it 78 years older than Lexington and the first inland settlement away from the coast. Funeral services for Mrs Margaret Sheehan of Concord

Funeral services for Mrs Margaret Sheehan 65 of Concord were held Wednesday from her home with a Solemn High Requiem at St Bernard Church and burial in St Bernard's cemetery. Sheehan widow of John J Sheehan was a well known former merchant and active parish member. She is survived by five daughters two sisters and several grandchildren.
