Concord Honorary Lawyer and War Veteran John Bordman Dies

John Bordman of Concord former selectman and Spanish War veteran died at his home on Monument Street at age 71. Born February 11 1872 in Charlestown he studied at Harvard earning a BA in 1894 and law degree in 1897. He served as captain in the Massachusetts First Heavy Artillery and adjutant of the 26th MV M during the Spanish American War and later managed a Philippine sugar plantation while practicing law. He returned to Concord in 1937 after years abroad and held town office between 1924 and 1928. He leaves widow Helen W Irvin a son John Bordman Jr and daughter Mary Constance Bordman a sister William B Robinson of Gloucester. Funeral services were held Monday at Trinity Episcopal Church with full military honors at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

Maynard-Edwin Phillips Dies at 32

Maynard Edwin Phillips 32 died last Thursday evening. He is survived by one sister Mrs William Aho. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Fowler Funeral home with Rev George Koponen of the Finnish Congregational Church officiating. Interment was at Glenwood Cemetery.

Concord Junior Community Club Opens for Boys and Girls

The Concord Junior Community club schedules a September 18 opening from 7 to 9 p m at Mill Dam in the former First National store building. Directors William Spokesfield and Leeman Haines will supervise activities including tables, billiards, games, music, and magazines. The activities committee led by Fred Doyle plans movies and demonstrations as the club aims to guide youths toward responsible future participation in Concord.
