The Concord finance committee schedules more meetings next month to approve the regional school budget by December 1. The proposed record of 838,037 dollars was submitted to voters at the recent public hearing. hearings run December 5 12 and 19.

The Appeal Board lists a hearing for November 30 at 8 p.m. in the court room of the House. Chairman Mae K. É will preside. Petitions include Horace for a ruling that converting 184 Commonwealth Ave into a two family dwelling will not be detrimental and Harold E. Brown for a ruling that parking more than one commercial vehicle on Old Road will not be detrimental.
Concords committee on public ceremonies and celebrations reschedules its regular monthly meeting to Sunday November 27 at 7 p.m. at the office of Chairman Dr Francis C McDonald 39 Main Street. Attendees welcome as plans for the 1961 Patriots Day observance are underway.

The Concord selectmen have received an invitation to attend the second annual New England Municipal conference at the Statler Hilton in Boston on Thursday December 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by Merchants National Bank. Attending are Chairman Harold C. Smith John Finigan Herbert P. Wilkins and Town Manager Theodore M. Nelson.

Concord selectmen approve the Christmas decoration committee plan led by Christopher W. Hurd. The effort includes live tree at Serst Kenneth Dunn Square, a lighted star at Church and Main, colored lights on five foot trees on poles from Dunn Square to Church/Main, a red swinging bell on Thoreau street, and lights along Thoreau from Belknap to Sudbury. A Mill Dam tree and lights on Main Street poles and trees from Walden/Main to Co operative Bank are also planned.
Tentative starting lineups and rosters for the holiday football matchup between Lexington and rival teams are listed. The read reads several players by name with positions noted, including quarterbacks Skinner and Carew and linemen Carlisle Taylor and McGrath, among others.
Sergt Charles F Boardman directed traffic when he spotted two suspicious girls aged 13 and 15. Patrolman Robert Learmonth and a patrol cruiser pursued them after they fled on foot. One girl started a small fire in her coat during the arrest. Both had escaped from a Waltham institution and were turned over to hospital authorities. Learmonth was injured and required medical care but returned to duty after treatment and whirlpool baths.
A three vehicle collision at the Everett and Walden streets intersection tied up 5 p m traffic and damaged about $3000 in vehicles. Frank J. Deinzer 36 of Framingham struck Thomas F. Cullen 35 of Lowell as Cullen crossed Heywood street. Mildred Mahaney was parked on Everett street and was struck as Cullen’s vehicle crossed. Police said Devizer will be summoned to court.
The Concord campaign reports 88 percent of its $110,350 goal raised a month after closing. Michael J. Fitzmorris Jr. chairs the drive with Arthur A. Carr Jr. aiding Concoord and Robert L. Carter guiding West Concord as the business section leads in contributions.
Concord officials announce the post office will operate in the Veterans Building from December 4 through December 31 to handle the holiday mail influx. Selectmen note the building has housed operations in previous years and restoration enables expanded service.
