Concord Family Service receives 11 400 and Visiting Nurses Association totals 4 150 as part of the Community Chest campaign aiding local health services.
Due to Lexington Council's temporary lack of facilities the Tuesday meeting of Gov David I Walsh Assembly Fourth Degree moves to Wellesley Council Home at 8 p.m. New officers will preside and Boys Town Movies will be shown. Plans for the Award Dinner on November 11 will be made by Louis Venti faithful admiral.
West Concord patrolmen Ralph H Thielen and Salvatore C Silvio Jr were called to investigate a break at Bill s Esso Station on Main Street early yesterday. Entrance believed gained through a smashed window with theft amount undetermined at first.
Concord selectmen vote 3 1 to approve the petition by Edythe Mannes and Harry B McCracken Jr representing a Brookline trust for a fuel oil station at the W Concord depot yard they purchased The lone dissenter was Herbert P Wilkins Restrictions require proper title to land and valid town parcels on submitted plans Applicants seek the station off Commonwealth Avenue.
Concord officials outline a joint meeting with the conservation committee and recreation commission to discuss the proposed Southfield recreation area. Town Manager Theodore M. Nelson met the building committee Thursday to review items for the Town House renovation. He expects to be in the new office next week as desks and chairs arrive Friday. Tree department workers completed cleaning every window pane in the Town House. Nelson will speak at the Catholic Men's Discussion Club first meeting of the new year Sunday at Monument Hall at 8 p.m. He will update attendees on town affairs.
Concord board of selectmen held a public hearing at their regular meeting on a petition by Beharrell Realty Trust for a gasoline station at 920 Main Street. Sponsors H Theodore Beharrell and Reed O Beharrell spoke in favor. one objector appeared. The board took the matter under advisement for further study.
The Concord finance committee approved moving 3000 dollars from the reserve fund to the veterans benefit fund and 67.50 dollars to reimburse Mrs Miriam McCabe for car damages caused by municipal tree work. Town Counsel John J Sheehan approved the settlement of claims accounts transfer.
Concord James J Mansfield Post No 158 met Monday evening at Dr Francis C McDonald’s office 38 Main Street with Commander Harold C Carlson presiding. The program for the coming year was discussed and refreshments were served.
Mr and Mrs Harthon J Munson announce the birth of twin daughters on October 13 at Emerson Hospital. Grandparents are Mrs Merrill C Sosman of Brookline and Mr and Mrs Thornton Munson of Westwood.
The Concord Board of Health announces two free rabies inoculation clinics for dogs. The first clinic is at the road department garage on Friday October 28 from 4 p.m. to 5 30 p.m. Owners must bring pets on a leash and carry dog licenses. Concord residents pay no fee.
Red Cross blood drive in Concord continues today with over 100 citizens already scheduled. Walk-ins welcomed. no-shows jeopardize the program as the drive seeks to maintain a steady national blood supply through winter.
About 3 000 attendees toured new town buildings during a drizzle drenched program. Rev Edmund Higgins led an invocation, with music from Concord Carlisle Regional School Band and scouts at the flag raising. Town officials praised the project, thanked contributors, and police and fire departments conducted demonstrations for Fire Prevention Week.
