Miss Anna Maria Ammendolia daughter of Mr and Mrs Antonio Ammendolia Concord Turnpike Concord was married to Edward Gene D Italia son of Mrs Amelia D Italia Arlington at St Bernard s church in a nuptial mass celebrated by Rev Mark P Sullivan. Bridesmaids includes Angela Ammendolia and others with attendants in blue marquisettes. The groom is from Brookline. The piece also notes a Lexington ten pin bowling league schedule.

Concord corps members earn three-year service ribbons

At a battalion review in Boston three members of Tenth Company MWC Concord received three-year service ribbons for three years of faithful work. Recipients were Captain Dorothy Macone Lieut. Uwine Meigs and Dame Avis Kroon formerly Avis Spencer of Acton. The group later traveled to Snar on for a fall camp with about 600 women. Sergt Barker Sergt Riley and Pvt Harrington worked at the Salvation Army canteen on the Boston common. Pvt Jeanson must leave the corps due to moving out of state.

YD Veterans Installation At Bedford

Concord Minute Man chapter of the YD Veterans Association held its annual installation of officers at Bedford Town Hall. State and county officers helped with the exercises. Bernard Snee of Lexington was installed as new commander succeeding Clifford W. Day of Arlington Heights.

Three Youths Inducted Into U S Service

Concord news notes three local youths inducted into the U S Army for active duty. Charles Joseph O O Dowd of 177 Commonwealth Avenue West Concord formerly of Bedford is married. Charles Edward Hopkins of 11 Elsinore Street Concord and Richard Croft of Chaffee Old Bedford Road also named among inductees.

West Concord Musketaquid Sportsman's Club announces annual dadies night program at the semi monthly meeting supper Thursday at the clubhouse off Hertington Avenue West. Concord School Committee Action Includes Graduate Requirements

At the Concord monthly meeting Rev Edward Daniels presided in the chair absence. Resignations of Mrs Frances Greenwood and Miss Barbara Fenerty were accepted. Graduation requirements set at 80 credits and freshman year standard outlined. Concord votes to enroll in the New England School Development Council. Superintendent Ralph D McLeary reports staff organization progress. War diploma committee abolished with continued diplomas for seniors who leave to join the armed forces, subject to course credits and timing.

Public Installation at Concord Legion Post 158

The James J. Mansfield Post 158 held a public installation in the Veterans Building. Arthur Wood of Hillside Avenue was installed as the new commander succeeding James Alexander, and Mrs. Julia Mansfield Finan was installed as president of the Ladies Auxiliary. State and county officers conducted the ceremony followed by a collation. Veterans of WW II and WW I were invited, with a special invitation to Gold Star Mothers.

Rotarians Hear Chinese Mice-Consul

Concord Rotary Club hears Chinese vice consul T C Shen discuss Outlook for future Chinese American relations at Thursday noon luncheon. Frank B Esau presented the program. President Lester T Whitemore led the meeting with about 40 members and guests.

Irwin Held On Four Counts In Fatality

Concord District Court set bail at 2200 for Pvt Joseph G Irwin a Providence Rhode Island dis charged serviceman and Italian campaign veteran arraigned on four counts including two manslaughter one driving to endanger and one driving under the influence of liquor The case stems from a fatal August 31 collision in Lexington near the Concord line two youths killed Lexington police brought the case Judge Pierre A Northrop found probable cause and Irwin pleaded not guilty.

American Officer Decorated by the Netherlands

Lieut.-Col James H. Volkmann of Monument Street received the Order of Orange Nassau officer with sword from the Netherlands for his service with the Allied forces. He is among 22 American officers honored. Volkmann has served over three years and has two sons in the service, one recently returned from the European Theatre.

Community Drive Nears Goal in Concord War Fund

Concord residents push the Greater Boston Community War Fund drive toward its $34,000 target in its third week. Chairman Franklin R. Johnson says donations are close, with last minute gifts accepted at 28 Main Street HQ or through solicitors.

Bronze Star Presented to Pfc Antonio N Rizzitano Jr

Concord honors Private first class Antonio N Rizzitano Jr posthumously with the Bronze Star for action near Munich Germany on April 30. The award was received by his mother Mrs Susan Rizzitano from Capt Anthony Alex at Fort Devens. He was one of 28 local boys who died in World War II and a former Concord Yankees football player.
