The Maynard area mourns Harley J. Dwinell 60 a former Arlington druggist who shot himself at his brother Dr F. E. Dwinell s home in Lyndonville. The Boston drug circles treasurer had recently sold his DeLee drug store in Maynard and faced ill health leading to despondency. He leaves a wife and son Philip.

Dancing School Opens in Town Hall on Tuesday Afternoon
The regular dancing school will open in the Town Hall on Tuesday afternoon October 31. Miss Bernice Newhall will be the instructor. A large number from this town witnessed the baseball game at Maynard last Saturday between Maynard and Concord Town teams. Maynard won the three game series 3 to 1.

The 34th semi annual Middlesex Local C E Union met at the Congregational church in South Acton with devotional guided by Rev. Ralph A Barker. Speakers included Miss Margaret Teague Miss Esther Robinson and Rev H R Whitlock with musical numbers by Franklin S Epps and Rev A E Wheeler. Delegates attended from multiple local churches and a dinner was served after sessions.

A Tuesday evening reunion at the Congregational church gathered about 40 past and present choir members. The program featured vocal solos by Myrtle Smith Stokes Mildred Gallant Bertram Hall Ruth French and Frank and Harold Merriam, violin by Eleanor Hall and organ by Bertram Hall, followed by refreshments and social hour.

Horace Stillman Richardson died October 9 after a brief illness of pneumonia at Waltham Hospital. Born May 21, 1846 in Hiram Maine, he became a leading Concord businessman and druggist, presiding over Richardson Drug Company. A past master of Athian Lodge A F and A M and past high priest of Walden Royal Arch, he leaves a wife a son Dr Frank L Richardson of Boston and two daughters. Funeral at 77 Main Street with Unitarian service and Masonic rites, interment Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

Rev William J Batt Observes 88th Birthday in Concord
Rev William J Batt longtime chaplain emeritus of the Massachusetts Reformatory celebrated his 88th birthday at home on Church Street. Messages of congratulations arrived by wire and mail. He later attended the West Concord Christian Temperance Union guest night. Born October 5 1834 in Fall River he attended Brown College Andover Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1859. He served 25 years as Reformatory chaplain retiring in 1913.
