Concord plans its annual Memorial Day parade for Saturday with assembly at the State Armory on Everett Street. Units must arrive by 2:15 p.m. for formation and staging.
About 35 NATO country guests and four State Department representatives joined Concord Rotarians for a day of tours, a spaghetti dinner, boating, and visits to the Old North Bridge and Antiquarian Society. The parade led by Major General Kenneth Blood and Major Norman Scherer was followed by memorial ceremonies at local cemeteries and monuments.
A farewell ceremony is set with a day dance and refreshment. Students attend with names including Cullinane, Nancy Mee, McWalter, Ellen Pereira, Su William Smeth. The event marks the sixth affair and honors the leader as plans proceed.

Rev W Walter Hall pastor of the Congregational church slipped from his Church Street home while trying to clear a bee swarm. He broke his heel and must wear a cast for six months. The accident occurred before a planned abdominal operation, which was performed Tuesday and he is now improving.

Letters go out this week to 1928 Concord High School alumni for their twenty fifth reunion set for Friday June 19 at Howard Johnson's. Dinner and entertainment follow a social hour from 7 to 8 pm. Reservations due by Tuesday June 9. Faculty members from that era are invited guests.
Concord's John W. Putnam pleaded not guilty to speeding on Route 128 after being clocked at 75 to 80 mph. He presented a speedometer company statement and his wife testified, but Judge Northrup found him guilty and placed the case on file with $5 court expenses, avoiding a criminal record.
Concord Citizens' Council and Concord School Committee met Thursday evening in the high school library. The agenda covered school buildings, visitation program, need for more facilities, progress on architect selection, and elementary school addition specifications.
Mrs. Mary A. Fitzpatrick wife of John D. Fitzpatrick of 5 Shirley Street left for England to attend the London coronation. The trip is a 30th wedding anniversary gift from her husband and son Ensign William Fitzpatrick U S Naval Reserve. She sailed from Montreal on the Empress of France and will return October 9 visiting Manchester relatives.
High school students Angus Kennedy Peter Duff Robert Downey Samuel Richards and Dean Soule were hosted as guests at Concord Rotarians luncheon last Thursday.
Concord man Harold Tompkins was elected in a Tuesday special election to the 13th Middlesex District, defeating Democrat Emile A. Dumas of Maynard. The district covers Carlisle, Stow, Maynard, and Concord. full results are in this week's Enterprise.
Veterans in memory of Concord dead gathered for Memorial Sunday on May 24. They met at the rail depot then marched to Kenneth J. Dunn square to place a wreath at the first Company H WW II death memorial. The procession continued to a 7:36 mass at Our Lady Help of Christians with music by the 23rd Infantry Band. Major General Kenneth T. Blood (ret.) served as parade marshal and Major Norman L. Scherer acted as adjutant. Taps were rendered by Henry O. M. Helsher Jr.
Concord received a special citation from the American Automobile Association for its pedestrian protection program. The town was among 15 selected nationwide in the 10,000 population group, as Massachusetts won the state award for the seventh year in a row.
Concord High rallied to beat Stoneham 7-1 at Stoneham, earning the Middlesex League title for the first time in 15 years. Sophomore lefty Dave Bouchard earned his third win, allowing six hits and striking out six, with two hits including a double contributing in Concord’s four-run third inning. The game ended early due to rain, preserving the sixth-inning score.
Concord Lions Club hosted Miss Marion Hogan at Howard Johnson's. The MIT graduate operates Weather Services, Inc. in Boston as an industrial meteorologist and was introduced by Past President Rothwell MacRae. Secretary read officer nominations for June installation.
Voters discussed articles on land purchase for a water pumping station and rest rooms at Battleground Parking. Article 16 rest rooms failed after amendments. a three member committee to study locations was approved. Article 13 approved eminent domain to acquire land atop Fairhaven Hill for the pumping station by a rising vote 344 to 15. Most zoning articles passed. one proposal to enlarge house lots to one acre was defeated 347 to 105 on a standing vote.
Trinity Sunday will be observed in local churches next Sunday, May 34st, with services planned across congregations. The article notes worship times and any special events tied to the observance.
Concord and nearby towns joined 47 other cities in Region Five for No air raid alert. The alert sounded on the fire alarm and eight minutes later the all clear was given by Box 55. Civil Defense officials reported overall cooperation was good and towns were quiet.
The American Legion Auxiliary will hold the second party in its whist series on Monday June 15 at 8 30 pm at the Veterans Building. Mrs Arthur Wood president announces the event is open to the public.
Annual Memorial Day observance at the Concord high school will feature Douglas Sloane of the Cathedral of Pines in Rindge New Hampshire as speaker. He will recount the worship site dedicated to a World War II hero who sacrificed his life in service.
