Projects for the coming year were outlined by Mrs Edward S Horne and Miss Virginia Simms. A cultural program titled Happiness Through Control of Self and Environment was presented.
Plans call for Troop 49 and Troop 31 Concord along with other Musketaquid units to attend the annual camporal at Camp Oak Bedford this Saturday and Sunday. Scouts meet at 9 AM Saturday for the overnight trip.
Concord selectmen announce the resignation of Prof. Charles R. Cherington of Westford Road from the planning board. His term would have expired in 1954. A successor will be named at a joint meeting of the selectmen and planning board later. Cherington is a Harvard teacher.
The summer schedule lists meetings on June 15 and 29 July 13 27 August 10 24 and September 7 All are Mondays at 7 30 at the Town House.
Catholic Women's Club hosts another whist party at St Elizabeth's Chapel Bedford Road this Friday at 8 o'clock. Public welcome prizes offered. St Elizabeth's is a mission of St Bernard's Church Concord.
Musketaquid District announces its annual Cub pack field day to be held Saturday June 13 at 2 pm at Emerson Playground. In case of rain the events move to Hunt Gymnasium. General chair Melvin M. King with assistants Cyril Per kin John Condon Robert Douglas Kenneth Gunn Walter ONeil Gordon Smith Sheldon Brigg William Shumway. Judges Roger C. Fenn head judge Barry Higgins Nicholas Delaney Charles E. Mara David Todd Robert W. MacFarland. Program includes a cub parade flag raising competitive events by age groups final run off mass graduation and prize presentations. Full schedule to be announced next week.
Concord Free Public Library announces head librarian Sarah R. Bartlett will retire June 30 after 33 years. Gordon A. Gaskill is appointed successor, to begin July 1 after serving as Cambridge Public Library chief cataloguer and prior work at Harvard Library. He is a Quincy native residing in Cambridge and holds AB AM and MS degrees from Boston University Brown Simmons.

Lawrence S. Kendall will chair the meeting with guest speaker Moore introduced by Rothwell N. MacRae. Moore, new to education, has global air age experience from TWA and prior roles in Chicago area schools and Latin American programs.
West Concord Cub Pack 33 held its last meeting before fall with badge presentations and new leaders. Kenneth Manosh joined as bobcat. Elton Allen earned two year service badge. Wolf badges went to James McMullen Donald Lind John Duncan and Peter Dalton plus a gold arrow and two silver arrows for Dalton. Bear badges to John Condon and David Carter who also earned a gold arrow. David Miller received a golf and silver arrow on Bear. James Rovers earned a gold arrow on Wolf. New den mothers Mrs Larencer Hunn Mrs Wendell Carter Mrs Russell Wheeler and Mrs Raymond Gray were introduced.
Concord appoints Sabatino Finochito as custodian for the Town House to fill the vacancy left by the late B. Joseph Culkins. Finochito, residing at 3 Cottage Lane, is a gardener and will supervise maintenance while building a new home on Main Street.
Sympathy is extended to Mrs Frank B Casey Concord for the death of her mother Mrs Bertha McMullen Osborne widow of Everett D Osborne Tuesday at Waltham. A native of Truro Nova Scotia she resided in Waltham more than 50 years. She is survived by Mrs Marion Casey and one other daughter, one son, five grandchildren two from Concord and one sister. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm at Wentworth Chapel in Waltham.
The Army operated 39 service schools offering 491 courses to military men and women during 1952.
Concord High defeated Newton High 6-4 to open the Eastern Massachusetts Baseball Tournament, pushing Concord into a semifinal against Somerville. Al Stockenburg pitched for Concord as Newton struggled with seven walks and 15 Concord hits, while Donnie Cullinane and Arthur Duggan contributed key hits.
Innin outlasted Giant Killers with a 03002100x-6 showing. Ky Flagg and Cullinane led with two base hits each, Hamill and Mattison each drove in two runs, while Olsen DeRuzzo Waite and G Flagg contributed errors and key plays. Stockellburg and DeStefano split pitching duties as Pelczar and Allen starred on the mound.
