Mrs Ida M. Harris, worthy matron of Priscilla chapter CBS, attended the grand chapter meeting in Worcester on Thursday and Friday May 12 18. The article notes a spring day with busy traffic and bees, while weather reports forecast a coming cold wave.
Mr and Mrs Harold A Merriam of Wollaston arrived Friday and will spend the summer in town occupying a tenement in the home of his grandmother Mrs James Jones on School street. Heavy frost last Thursday damaged fruit and early vegetables, making Carl's asparagus bed look like Revere beach at low tide with ice in many low spots.
Warren Jones of South Acton has been appointed chief of police. The South Acton road stone crusher is being repaired for spring road work. Mrs Frank Parsons left for Ohio for a short visit. Mrs E C Wood will keep house during Parsons absence. Albert H Perkins of West Acton is named tree warden to replace O Neil of East Acton. Mrs Laker and Mrs Kimball of Pepperell and Mrs Robbins of Melrose attended the Woman's Club Children's Day in town.
After a ten day auto tour to Cleveland, Gettysburg and other points, Miss Charlotte Conant and Mrs F E Griffin reached home Thursday. They travelled west and south to find good roads then returned via a northern route through Buffalo and central New York. Friends greet Mrs Daniels upon her California winter stay resuming home.
M B Church sells the Maynard Drug Store on Main Street to David L Bardo. Bardo, of Fitchburg, has long operated in Worcester and is brother in law to Mrs George H Creighton. Church, owner for five and a half years, plans rest and will assist Bardo for three to four weeks before leaving Maynard with mixed regrets.
An auction bids without reserve on May 20 1921 at 10 am in Concord Massachusetts offers 600 plus antiques from pewter to Queen Anne items. Highlights include old secretaries mahogany furniture brass andirons and a Sunken stage sale room filled with pictures desks clocks and chairs. Auctioneer John A Finigan invites collectors dealers and homeowners to attend cash terms and weather unaffected sale.

Mrs Paul Edwardson and her son Paul Jr returned Wednesday from a several week visit with relatives in Melrose.
The parish garden party in Warner hall drew a large crowd and proved financially successful. The Commonwealth table committee organized the event with the parish orchestra providing music and dancing until midnight. At intermission baskets containing lunch for two were auctioned, and bidders enjoyed the contents with the matching lady.
Ward 8 and Ward 6 meet for a lively baseball game Wednesday at 6 p.m. Managers Loughlin and O Grady lead rival teams with confident fans lining the field to cheer their favorites.
The Baptist church supper drew about 150 attendees. Former pastor C. L. Pierce from Westboro and his family attended with five young people from his church who performed readings and entertainment. Barbara Whitney and Barbara Jitney starred in readings. Miss Whitney showed notable talent. Memorial service planned at South Adon tional church on Sunday May 22 at 10 30 am.
Mrs G P Littlefield taken ill with trained nurse tending her at home. Mrs Glenn C Gould and son Glenn Jr return from Concord hospital. Rose of Ole Virginia, penned by Irma Durkee and Phyllis Dennison, is a local hit with copies selling fast.
Firemen responded to a blaze last week at the O'Brien place in Stow where a barn burned along with a large quantity of hay and a nearby young orchard. West Acton volunteers traveled to assist and many locals attended the scene.
