Concord Light Board Awards 1900s Boiler Contract
The Municipal Light board awarded a contract for two water-tube boilers for the power station to Union Iron Works Co at about $19 000. Plans for enlarging the building are nearly finished by Monks and Johnson of Boston, with work in charge. The lighting office has moved back to the town hall. A portion of appliance stock sold to A D MacRae who will occupy 24 Main St. The department returns to reading meters and billing on even quarters January April July and October to standardize current consumption figures.

Comedy Benefit For French Lycée Equipment Fund
Members of the Middlesex School Glee Club presented two musical comedies Saturday and Monday evenings to raise funds for the French Res ta tion fund to supply athletic equipment at the Lycee. A large audience attended both performances and a goodly sum was raised for this good cause.

Kerosene lamp explosion kills Mrs Swanson on Mothers Day
Mrs Richard Swanson of Glendalest dies from burns after a kerosene lamp exploded at her home on Wednesday. Her two year old son is severely burned. both mother and child were taken to Deaconess hospital. Funeral rites will be held for Mrs Swanson, a Sweden-born resident of Maynard, at Glenwood cemetery. A Ford station opened on Main Street with E F Bumford of Boston as proprietor and Theodore Hill as mechanic. Belle Meyers celebrated her 75th birthday at Acton Street home with friends sending cards and gifts.

Mothers Day Observed At Acton Church
Mothers Day was observed with appropriate music by the choir and a sermon on Christian home training at the Sunday morning service. The Sunday evening service and Friday evening meeting times were set to 730 for the coming months. Next Friday May 13 the prayer service will feature Plans for Church Work. Burglars Blow Safe at Harvard General Store
Burglars entered the Harvard general store owned by Kerley Reed and Bryant Saturday night. The safe was blown open and wreckage scattered, with about $600 stolen. Local authorities investigated the break in and theft.
