Harvard Law student James Kimberly Grimm Jr 23 of York dynamics was in a near head on crash near East Acton two weeks ago. He drove a car that collided with a truck at Lands Corner suffering ruptured spleen fractured ribs and internal injuries. Hospital officials called his recovery miraculous with top care from doctors and nurses. He expects to leave Emerson Hospital this week and the incident prompted a local inquiry.

The Concord High School committee selects Hammond Smith to succeed Frederick H. Pierce as principal. Smith, a Medford native and Dartmouth 1927 graduate, joined Concord in 1943 replacing James Clifford Geer who entered military service in World War II. He will then leave to become executive secretary of the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Principals Association.
Concord local members plan the annual charity ball at the Copley Plaza Hotel inn next Monday night May 17. The Assembly has pledged 10000 dollars for Archbishop Cushing Charities and Archbishop Richard J. Cushing is expected to attend.
Concord Herald Cabot, president of Emerson Hospital, announced that final approval has been received for building and improvement plans under the Burton Bill. The grant will cover 206 885 62 of the total 620 656 87 cost, enabling an expanded emergency department and obstetrical facilities, enlarged laboratory and X ray, and a modern fire resistant wing with better patient care and efficiency.
