Retired officer Thomas Wyan dies at West Concord home
Thomas Wyan 86 died at his Main Street home after a two week illness. A native of St John New Brunswick he served 43 years at the Massachusetts Reformatory retiring in 1935. A mass at Our Lady Help of Christians west Concord honored him with burial in St Bernard cemetery. He was a Charter member of Concord Council K of C and Holy Name Society. He leaves a son Thomas W Ryan and two others at home.

Highway Worker Critically Injured on Concord Turnpike
Concord Massachusetts Highway Department worker Concord-Gabriele Ciervo, 61, was critically injured last Monday afternoon while operating a sweeping machine on the Concord Turnpike. He was dragged about 15 feet as the machine started, then rushed to Emerson Hospital for scalp injuries and possible internal injuries and a possible fractured leg. Patrolmen Fred Nolan and Domin Pagano assisted.

Concord reports hospitals across the country have charged $25 or more for each pint of blood given to a patient. The fee could be avoided if the patient could rally donors to replace the blood used. Tragically, some patients died simply because blood was not available when needed.
