Calvin J. Morse sold his 15 acre Sudbury farm to Victor Maenpan of Florida road this week. The Morse family held the property for 55 years and the new owner plans a house on the site replacing the old homestead destroyed by fire last year.
Grand lodge officers will visit Maynard lodge 1.0.0.F. this evening for the first time in 12 years. William B Barker, grand master, will be hosted with a banquet at 6.30 at Masonic hall. A 7.45 degree work will accompany a reception and address after the session.
James OConnell longtime assistant overseer of the sewing room at Assabet mills died at his Brown Street home after a long illness. He was 68, born in Chicago, survived by his wife and children in Maynard and Montreal. Funeral services were held at St. Bridget's Church with a solemn requiem mass conducted by Rev. Edward Crowley and assisted by several clergy. The bearers included Charles Courtney, William Brayden, Graham Forgie, David Sharpe, and Albert Moynihan.
Mrs Virginia Wilson departs as bookkeeper at Carter and Loftus store while Miss Gertrude Kane takes the position. Weekend guests include Miss Elkins of Haverhill and Miss Mollyneux visiting Mrs William Jenness. Andrew Edwardson recovers from an appendicitis operation at Deaconess Hospital. William L Heureux returns to town and resumes work at Boston Harness Company. Mr and Mrs A J MacEachern visit their son John at St Johns Seminary Brighton on Sunday.
Mary Shaw died at her Charlestown home on Thursday from heart disease. The funeral was held Saturday at her residence with friends from the town attending. She was a well known figure, often visiting Mr and Mrs James Russell on Main Street.
Grammar school children returned to studies last Monday after a week’s vacation. Many from Bedford attended the junior prom at the high school assembly hall Friday evening from 7:30 to 11 o clock.
Postmistress Hannah E Pfeiffer recently inspected the rural routes to assess road conditions, route arrangement, box placement, accessibility for carriers, adherence to official schedules, and patron satisfaction, with suggestions for improvements in the interest of patrons. She notes money for money orders should not be left in the boxes.

The Ladies Benevolent Society of the Baptist church plans a Thursday night celebration with supper in olden day style and costumes. DDP Rachel Haynes and grand mar shall Mrs Evangeline Hall recently visited the Townsend Re lodge. Mrs Edward Holton of Medford and Mrs R M Davis of Framingham visited, and the latter was tossed from a wagon in a recent mishap. Mrs Alexina Bowlby was elected vice president of the Rebekah Assembly last week with congratulations from friends in town and Concord.
Mr and Mrs Frank Rideout attended the annual Boston reunion and luncheon of Cushing Academy Alumni at Cambridge on Saturday. C. P. Bridges of West Lynn will give a free bible lecture on Sunday May 14 at 345 at 415 Main street. Subject Christ's Return Soon. Mr and Mrs F McLean and daughter Pearl of Somerville, former residents, motored here Saturday to call on friends. Mr and Mrs James Lawrence have returned to their home on Central St after a winter with their daughter Mrs Taylor at her home in Belmont.
Following a raid at Fletcher corner authorities uncover a well organized distillery on Joseph Dinsmore land. Joe Gadbis and Konstanty Kaponstas receive fines for liquor offenses and charges include keeping liquor for sale and nuisance. Gadbis faces a one year House of Correction term plus $100 fine. Petransin and Kaponstas also fined with bonds set.
A gang of auto thieves robbed freight cars of various merchandise near Marlboro branch. The suspects worked from the West, loading items at Richardson's crossing or beyond Martin Street by backing a truck to the track. Railroad detectives trapped them by telephone as they drove into Arlington. They were bound over to the grand jury at Concord and sent to Cambridge jail.
Rev Mother Margaret Kenna of Concord died Monday May 1 at St Elizabeths hospital after an operation. She led the Sisters of St Joseph as Superior General for 17 years and earlier helped train novices. She leaves two sisters and one brother, with several siblings predeceased. Funeral in Brighton convent and burial at the novitiate cemetery followed by a large service.
Mrs. Theodore Chamberlain and Mrs. Henry F. Smith Jr invite guests to an informal at home event on Friday May 12 from 4 to 6 pm at 7 Lowell Road. About 50 invitations are sent to Concord Academy interested guests to meet the teachers connected with the institution. Mrs. Herbert Hosmer and Mrs. Frederick S. Millett will pour.
Frank Antonucci died at his Bedford Street home on Wednesday May 3. Funeral services were held at his home on Thursday May 4 with Father Ryan officiating. Interment followed at St Bernard's Cemetery. He had lived in Concord six years and leaves a wife in Italy. Norman Spencer returned to his Court Lane home after visiting his grandmother in Brookline.
