Three Concord Girls Survive Narrow Train Trestle Escape
Three Concord girls narrowly escaped death when a Minute Man express thundered past a trestle over the Sunbury River. Léthian Hansen clung by fingertips to a tie as the train rushed 60 miles per hour, while Lilisa Hansen and Elizabeth Hansen, 16, and other witnesses watched in shock. The incident left the sisters and onlookers shaken and the trestle scene described as perilous.

Concord Electrical Engineer Fred Powers Dies at 69
Hudson-Fred E B Powers 69 of Concord died at the home of Mr and Mrs Malcolm Googins in poor health for about. He was born in Bucksport Maine and lived in Concord 27 years. An electrical engineer he worked in the municipal plant for many years. His wife died January 26. He leaves a brother Philip E Powers of Buckport Maine as his only near survivor. Undertaker John Dee will handle arrangements.
Minuteman Bugle and Drum Corps Plans Expanded Roster
The Minuteman Bugle and Drum Corps, drawn from Maynard Concord Acton Bedford Lincoln American Legion members, seeks to grow from 30 to 50 musicians and will recruit from Arlington and Medford. Buglers and drummers are urged to join via Eugene McCarthy at the Lexington post office or by phone. Notable affiliated members include Eugene Lowpret and others from Maynard Legion posts.
