Archbishop Richard J. Cushing will administer the sacrament of Confirmation at Our Lady Help of Christians Church next Sunday at 4 PM. A class of 73 boys and girls will be confirmed, with Rev. Alexander J. McCarthy and visiting priests assisting. A sermon and benediction will conclude the service.

A Concord or Somerville man seeking a prospective home was injured Monday noon while about to cross the Mill Dam on Main Street near a taxi stand. He was knocked down by a cab and taken to Emerson Hospital with leg injuries.

Concord public schools Superintendent Ralph D. McLeary announced on Monday his resignation to become head of the Plainfield New Jersey public schools effective July 1. He came to Concord in 1945 from Barrington Rhode Island and previously taught in Brookline High School mathematics. He is a Colby College graduate with a master’s from Colby, member of the New England School Development Council, and has done work at Harvard. He and his wife live at 390 Main Street. a daughter resides in Boston.
The Concord Red Cross Chapter reports $11 275 63 raised toward a $13 950 goal in the annual fund drive. Officials say progress is satisfactory and expect to reach the goal, noting reduced surplus funds this year make the drive the strongest test of local support since the war. Citizens of Concord Lincoln Acton and Roxborough are seen as likely to meet the challenge.
Middlesex School boys return from spring vacations as many live far away and will resume classes on Wednesday March 29.
A chartered Greyhound will take 30 Concord High School pupils to Hyattsville Maryland on early Saturday morning to start a historic inter-school education exchange. Forty-nine applicants were narrowed to thirty based on scholarship dependability and cooperativeness. The group funded transportation through a magazine drive that raised nearly $706 and will pair with Hyattsville students for exchanges and correspondence.
