Miles Couple to Celebrate 60th Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Miles of 8 Central Concord plan a 60th anniversary open house at their home next Sunday from 2 to 6 pm. Married March 15, 1890, they have two sons R Ray Miles of Ashburnham and Rosamond Jen, plus eight grandchildren in town. A nearby fire at Central Station earlier Monday drew local firemen to a reported blaze.

Mammoth Holiday Program Nears Completion in Concord

The 19th Mammoth Holiday Program celebrates Concord's fight for freedom with events starting at 3 PM on the 19th. A mammoth ball opens the long weekend on the 18th with Ruby Newman's orchestra. The 19th features a baseball game between Concord and Maynard high schools at 10 the track meet with Concord Lexington Mansfield Milton Natick Needham Wellesley Woburn joining.

Lions Club Views Bermuda Movies At Supper Meeting

Concord Lions Club met at the Howard Johnson Restaurant for a semi monthly supper followed by a film program of Bermuda scenes led by Past President Rothwell N. MacRae. President Maxwell E Lawrence presided and Bowdoin College glee club concert plans were announced by William T Wyman with tickets available from Richardson's or Lions members.

Fashion Show Highlighted Hawthorne Chapter Meeting

Hawthorne Chapter Order of Eastern Star met at the Masonic Temple last Wednesday with Mrs. Nina Zumwalt presiding. A fashion show organized by Mrs. Ethel M. Davis featured Concord Rainbow Assembly models. New officers were elected for the coming year and will be installed at the April meeting. refreshment accolades closed the session.

The Concord Red Cross drive reports $9 082 58 in gifts from Concord and West Concord with two branches still to report. The chapter aims for 13 950 with 7 000 kept locally and the rest to the National Red Cross. Special gifts total 4 045 collected. Solicitors report friendly receptions and broad community support.

Student Councils To Meet April 1st

Concord announces the Eastern Division Student Councils annual meeting in Watertown on April 1. Delegates with voting power are Charles Hancock Synia Barthus Elizabeth Robus and Leo McKenna. Representatives are Jack Finan and Paul Leslie. Leo McKenna will lead a discussion on how the community can cooperate with the school.

Truck Rams School Bus on Concord Pike. Four Escape Injury

A two ton truck skidded on the Concord turnpike at Sudbury road and rear ended a school bus carrying Concord High students. The bus, operated by Walter N. Hardy of West Concord, was pushed into a metal sign. Driver of the truck was Raymond A. Powell of Massachusetts Avenue Lunenburg. Elmer Lantz, installing a television, suffered a minor fall with slight injuries.

Obedient Dog Show Delights Crowd At State Armory

Concord hosts the third annual Rod and Gun Club sportsmen’s show with about 900 attendees. Corded by Van Allen Clarke the event features Cord dog entries such as Barbara Wilson with Taffy and Brenda with Branda. Dogs perform in hand signals glove act elimination jumping and relay events with top honors going to Tony Dizzie and Nickle. Mr. and Mrs. John J. Bent, Sr. return from Florida.

Concord District Holds March Jamboree At Armory

Concord-Cubs and six local troops from Concord Lincoln and Carl isle present a district jamboree on Saturday night March 18 at the State Armory. Cubs start at 7 pm with races knot tying and skits. Scouts will compete for blue ribbons in relays and knot tying compass orientation and first aid. Sea scouts and explorers perform fire making and a push up contest. An 8 pm ceremony marks cub close and scout activities with pledges and the national anthem. Prizes and booths follow. Parents urged to attend.
