A 1950 town meeting drew about 1 400 voters about 300 more than the previous year. Debate focused on the to vote permission and town governance with Julian W. chairing the committee. The session discussed road projects and the effect on the armory celebration set for Patriots Day.

Dr A Warren Stearns of Billerica Tufts College criminologist and pathologist spoke to Concord Council Knights of Columbus at Monument Hall Concord presented by Grand Knight John B Finigan. Stearns a candidate for Middlesex County sheriff Republican nomination was warmly received marking his fourth recent visit.
Stow Civic club presents a travelogue Wings to Ireland at the regular meeting on Monday March 13. The program starts at 8 p m and is open to the public at Town Hall.
Concord chapter of the American Red Cross reports strong progress in week two of its annual fund drive. House to house canvassers paid in 1080 and special gifts 1245 totaling 2325.53 dollars toward a 18050 dollar goal. Frederick H Lovejoy urges supporters to hurry in deposits as this drive funds Concord Lincoln Acton Roxborough activities with the balance for the National Red Cross.
West Concord parents invited to Harvey Wheeler auditorium on Wednesday March 15 at 8 pm for an informative session as Principal Radcliffe Morrill of Concord High School seeks better acquaintance with families of students.
Mrs Colby Synott spoke at the Concord Rotary luncheon at Howard Johnsons. Past President Les lie O Anderson presented her talk recounting her recent trip to Norway. The prior meeting noted contributors to the Talent Night program including Hans W Miller the Concord Players Nellie Craig the selectmenu and the Enterprise.
The Concord Rod and Gun Club prepares the third annual sportsmen's show with opening night Friday at 7 pm and five performances. Local booths include South Bridge Boat House Macone Brothers Concord Radio and Electric Ralph A Macone Sleepy Hollow Monument Works and more. Proceeds fund a new clubhouse on Barretts Mill road with door prizes and nine grand prizes plus a cocker spaniel prize.
The Woman's Union of Trinitarian Congregational Church meets next Thursday March 16 at 3 PM in the parish house. A business service precedes a worship service led by Mrs. Warren Powell. Speaker Miss Ingeborg Richthofen, German teacher and Harvard student, will be presented.

Concord notes at Monday's town meeting extended a vote of appreciation to five retiring officers. Recipients were Chilton Cabot of the cemetery department with 24 years, Warren B Goddard of the board of health after 13 terms, Julian W Ballou finance committee chairman, Krist Andersen former selectman and ex-finance chair, and Danforth W Comins ex-selectman and ex-finance chair.
Mrs Damon Winslow J Damon of 428 Main street is reappointed chairwoman of the Concord School Committee with Horace R Fletcher as clerk. Members include Francis L Coolidge reelected for three years, George T Goodspeed, and Frank J Googins filling a one year vacancy.
Three new members of the Finance Committee were named by Moderator Hubert M. Wardwell at Monday night’s town meeting. They are John B. Finigan Anson Krick and Ernest Spinney. Gordon H. Ogilvie and Ralph F. Verrill were re appointed for three years. Retiring are Julian W. Ballou Merton J. Leighton and Mark Mara. The committee held its annual pre town meeting dinner last Saturday at the 1775 House in Lexington.
The Enter prise reports that last week's tally of 2 044 votes was not a record. The largest town election vote was 2 534 in 1935 for the selectman race.
Concord residents at the State Armory meeting backed a plan to build two elementary schools with a 705000 appropriation. The measure includes 650000 for 1950, funding from a 1950 tax levy and two bonds, plus state aid estimated at 27 percent. One school will be K 3 on the former Hugh Cargill property. the other K 2 off Pleasant Street.
