Distinguish ed clergy and many out of town attendees gathered for the solemn high mass of requiem at St. Bernard s Church for Rev Walter A Quinlan 59 former pastor. Flags flew at half staff as the town paused to honor him with burial in Old Ivy Cemetery after the service and procession to Rest Hills.

Concord reports the marriage of Miss Louise Wetherbee Virginia Walker daughter of Mr and Mrs Harold J Walker to Pierre Daniel Houdry son of Mr and Mrs Eugene J Houdry at St Bernard’s church on March 5. The ceremony was a nuptial mass officiated by Rev Mark P Sullivan. The bride wore ivory brocade with bouffant skirt and long train and carried white lilacs and camellias. Attendant was Miss Jean Chilton Walker. Best man Jacques Jules Hubert Houdry. ushers James C Walker and Dr Thomas J Costello. Mrs Houdry is a Bryn Mawr graduate. Houdry attended Episcopal Academy Lawrenceville and served in the U S Army in Europe and CBI theaters.

Eldon C Shoup OPA Regional Administrator warns Spare Stamp No 9 in Ration Book Four is for home canning only and not bonius sugar. The canning sugar stamp runs to October 31 and is valid nationwide to cover the coming canning season. House wives are told to save the stamp and use ration stamps for all home canning sugar this year as rationing shifts to state OPA offices.

Prior to the war the registry held two inspections yearly, in April and October. The April checkup was dropped during the war. inspectors will tour the state on April 1 with police. Cars with defective equipment will be removed and owners’ registrations suspended. District Inspector Leo F. Haley conducts the local check with police aid. Auto owners have the month to obtain the sticker but should complete the checkup by April 1. The registrar warns about worn steering gear and brakes and urges careful driving for safety.
