Reverend Quinlan, Concord Pastor, Dies at 59

Lieutenant Discharged Returns Home in Concord

Malcolm Thompson, a U S Navy lieutenant, received his discharge at the First Naval District and is now visiting his mother Mrs Henry S Thompson at Fairhaven Hill. He is the brother of Henry S Thompson Jr who served overseas with the U S Army.

Kennedy Couple Observe Fifth Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Van diver M Kennedy of 8 Potter Street marked their fifth wedding anniversary this past week. The pair were married in Hawaii where Mr Kennedy formerly worked and currently live with Mrs Kennedy's parents, Mr and Mrs John Mullen in Concord. Mr Kennedy previously lived in West Concord before their Hawaii trip and their return last fall.

Firemen and town leaders settle date clash for dance

Concord officials and the firemen moved to resolve a calendar conflict between the postponed town meeting and the annual firemen’s bell. The bell will now be held Wednesday April 24 at Veterans Building after a Tuesday night meeting.

Escapade Ends as Worcester Prisoner Is Recaptured

Walter Kowalczyk, 22, an inmate at the Massachusetts Reformatory, escaped from a cowbarn near Acton Tuesday afternoon and was recaptured six hours later by reformatory officer James Lyons and state police near the Acton line. He had been serving six to eight years for burglary and nighttime entering. The escape prompted extra guards and police from Concord Acton and surrounding towns.
