Concord Veteran Receives Navy Gold Star Award

Lt. Comdr. Roger H. Weed USNR, a South Street Concord resident, was awarded a Gold Star in lieu of a Bronze Star Medal. The honor, presented by Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal, includes a citation praising his meritorious service in analyzing vast statistical reports and disseminating intelligence across Pacific Fleet commands.

Concord Woman's Club Fashion Show at Trinitarian Church

The Concord Woman's Club held a fashion show at the Trinitarian Congregational Church parish house last Monday afternoon. Miss Loret ta Tierney led the event with dessert beforehand and a business session led by President Mrs. G Sherman Blair. Tables featured blue and white decor with tulips and spring flowers. Mrs. Daniel MacKay spoke as American Home Day chairman. The program was run by Mrs. Eugene E Bishton and drew a well attended crowd as professional models presented outfits.

West Concord Woman's Club Friday Meeting at 1 30

The West Concord Woman's Club will meet Friday at 1:30 pm in the West Concord Union Church. Mrs. Harry Wilson will preside and serve a dessert. American Home Day will be observed and speaker Mrs. Henri Blanc of R H Stearns Boston will discuss.

Concord Lions Plan March Meeting At Howard Johnson

The Concord Lions Club will hold its regular semi monthly meeting and supper on Tuesday March 12 at 6 30 p m at the Howard Johnson Restaurant West Concord. Leeman E Haines will preside. Past President Rothwell N MacAde will announce the program and District Governor Joseph Vincent Gara is expected to visit.

Plans Visit to Concord by Newly Consecrated Bishop

The Rt. Rev. Norman B. Nash will be in Concord this Sunday afternoon at 4 o clock for the formal installation service at Trinity Church. The Rev. Bradford Hastings will be installed as rector. Nash, recently elected Bishop Coadjutor and consecrated bishop, has ties to St. Anne's arc, Lincoln, and has been prominent in Concord news.

New Chairman Elected for Concord School Committee

Mrs W J Damon is elected chair to succeed Rep Harold Tompkins who retired. She is believed to be the first woman to head the Concord School Committee. Other members include Horace R Fletcher Mrs Ruth C Wheeler Frank J Googins and Francis L Coolidge.

Watson Wins Watertown School Committee Seat

Concord veteran and longtime physical education teacher and coach, John J. Watson, won a seat on the Watertown School Committee in the annual election last Monday. He was one of two winners on the Democratic ticket and plans to continue teaching in Concord.

Concord Finance Committee Gains Tax Hike At Town Meeting

About 900 voters gathered at the State Armory and Veterans Building for a three hour session. The annual meeting approved roughly $525,000 in appropriations, about $100,000 more than last year, with a projected 1947 tax rate about $10 higher per thousand, the highest in town history. Practically all articles passed with little debate.
