Town meeting approves financing for street work and the water mains program. funds for fire department expansion and a new fire alarm whistle are authorized. A planning board is created and municipal light board may sue to collect electric claims. Estimated tax rate around 36.50.

The Concord Musical Club met yesterday afternoon with Mrs Henry F Smith of Sudbury Road. An interesting program featured vocal and instrumental music performances.

Death of Mrs A J Pike in West Concord

Mrs Annie J Pike wife of Arthur A Pike proprietor of the Quality Market West Concord died at her Central Street home. Funeral services were held at her home with Rev Alfred Wheeler Stone and Rev Milo Pearson officiating. Burial in Forestvale Hudson. She was born March 2 1869 in Hudson MA and lived in Auburn and Concord. She leaves her husband three brothers five sisters and many friends.

Illustrated India Talk At School Of Missions

A O H Plans Musical Comedy In Concord March

At Division 56 Ancient Order of Hibernians meeting in Monument Hall last Tuesday President James Powers presiding, Joseph M. Collins reported that the short musical comedy The Doctor's Office will headline the Saint Patrick's Day entertainment. George Fleming of Hyde Park, who coached The Birth of Incopation, will direct. The event also features a musical program and dance numbers with a season of general dancing to follow.

Prisoners Describe Escape Plot and Assault on Officer

Testimony details a premeditated escape plan at the reform school with Buchanan and Vincent confessing to striking Officer O'Connell. Buchanan claimed the blackjack was carried for two days and described restraining the guard as Vincent testified to complicity. O'Connell, battered and hospitalized, fainted on the stand as the court adjourned and resumed later.

The Concord Female Charitable Society will meet in the vestry of the First Parish meeting house at 2 p m on Wednesday March 12. Concord High School Indoor Track Places Eighth at State Meet

Concord High School Indoor Track team earned six points and finished eighth at the State Interscholastic Meet in Boston's East Armory. Gordon Cunningham ran 50 yards to take second behind Satchabell of Brighton, and also finished second in the 300 yards. The relay squad did not place this year.

Under Old Corn Cob Chapter DAR a Tercentenary Bridge party was held in the new auditorium with good attendance. First prizes went to Mrs. Henry P. Thorpe and Mrs. John R. Concord Grange No. 150 held a whist party Wednesday evening at the home of Mr and Mrs Freelan J Tuttle on Lexington road. Mrs Helen Croft won the women’s first prize and Albert Croft the men’s first trophy. Second prizes went to Mrs Norah Power and Fred E Power. Ruth Raymond won third for the women and William Dee for the men. Consolation prizes were awarded Mrs Katherine Byron and Allison Clark.
