The wedding of Miss Concetta Nanty Denaro daughter of Mr Francisco Denaro and Mrs Denaro of Bedford Street to Emile Mrs Gerard Bourgeois of Rumford Maine was held on June 15 in Concord.
Concord graduation exercises were held in the state armory with a capacity crowd. Eighty three graduates received diplomas as Harold Tompkins chaired the school committee. Rev. Kenneth R. Teed offered the invocation and Thomas H. Hoffman delivered an engineering themed talk. Robert R. Voight spoke on profit from loss and received a Beansale Institute gold medal for math and science, while Walter C. Kaveski was honored for his essay on the Bill of Rights. Admiral Wat Tyler Gluverius was the guest speaker.
Mr and Mrs Peter Pronko of Roosevelt Street observed their twenty fifth wedding anniversary with a family gathering at home on Saturday night. A turkey dinner was followed by a social reunion with relatives and friends. The couple have two children Peter and Adélia who helped with the celebration and received many gifts and congratulatory messages.
Maynard resident Toivo Kuttunen a well known member of the Finnish colony was found dead in his room at 26 Main Street Monday morning. Death attributed to heart trouble. He was 50s, born in Finland, long time resident and a tailor for Anton Jantti. Funeral held at Twombley Parlor yesterday at 2 PM with Rev. George A Koponen officiating. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery.
The final whist party sponsored by the B Edwards-Quimby Post American Legion was held Thursday evening June 20 in the G A R hall. Concord's Mary Elizabeth McBreen daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas J McBreen of 19 Long Street married Fred Pryor Dunham son of the late Mr and Mrs Pryor Dunham of Framingham on Sunday at St Bernard's rectory. The ceremony included Miss Agnes J Mcbreen as maid of honor and John Tutty as best man. A reception followed at the Girl Scout House on Walden Street. The bride, a Concord High School and Bryant and Stratton Commercial School alumna, previously worked at Tuckers Coffee House. Dunham, a Framingham High School graduate, attended Mount Hermon and MIT and works for New England Sand and Gravel in Cochituate.
Fire Chief Harry B. Tuttle issued a warning to owners of summer homes and camps in Concord urging precautions to protect property from fire. He advised water under pressure or at least one fire extinguisher per household, keeping extinguishers in cars as well, and to call an alarm if a fire is not fully out so firefighters can assess danger.
The Concord Band opens the season with strong audience applause at the center band stand last Friday. The next concert is moved to July 3, the night before the Fourth, and the West Concord concert moves to the Harvey Wheeler school grounds on July 12 due to resident petition. The band also schedules events in Norwood Lincoln Bedford Veterans Hospital through July 7.
In a three o clock wedding at St Bernard's rectory Concord Virginia Jobe Nichols daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Paul Nichols Lincoln became the wife of William JF Brisman son of Mr and Mrs Jeremiah Brisman Lincoln. Rev Walter A Quinlan officiated. Miss Mary Sullivan friend of the bride was maid of honor and John A Hutchinson brother in law of the groom was best man. They will reside at Lexington road after a wedding trip. The bride is a Cord high Burdett College graduate and the groom attended Concord High Lawrence Academy Alabama. He works at Snow Pharmacy Mill Dam and the bride recently worked at Hartwell Farm Lincoln.
Concord community notes report birthday celebration for a 72 year old, visitors at Nantasket Beach, new arts store opening in Wianno, clergy changes, residents moving to Cuttyhunk summer homes, a summer gala field day planned by the Musketaquid Gun Club, state police corporal R F Rhodes recovering after surgery, and funeral rites for Mrs Katharine T Jackson in Lincoln with parish connections in St Bernard's cemetery.
The town of Concord will fly the national colors daily at the center flag pole following a Selectmen order to Police Chief William G. Ryan, custodian of the flag, after repeated requests from citizens.
Frederick V. Bowers entertained the Concord Rotary Club at the Colonial Inn on Thursday. He performed Gay Nineties songs and stories about composers, accompanying himself on the piano. Bowers, linked with the American Society of composers and Publishers, has written over five hundred songs including the famous "Because."
The inter club tennis schedule at the Concord Country Club featured delays and round results. In men's singles, players Dowie, Alexander, Steel, Allen, and Chase competed, with Harris and Hayes advancing in early rounds. In doubles, Mrs. Hayes and Alien posted 46 6-8 8-2 outcomes, while Mr. and Mrs. Fenn defeated Kidder and Teele with scores 8-8 4-46 6-2. In the Ladies Doubles first round Garfield and Her tig won by default over Kidder and Kidder, with the Sheddens and Ann Shedden advancing by default over Chase partners.
Mr and Mrs Ghames M Maloney of 210 Commonwealth avenue moved to their new home on Medford street Arlington and will travel to Bradford Pennsylvania where their son Chickie a prior high school baseball captain plays third base on the Boston Bees farm team. Mr and Mrs Olavi Alto of 8 Pine street welcomed a daughter June 12 at Emerson hospital. Ruth Winifred Lawrence was the bride before marriage. Edward Loughlin of Main street helped conduct the Harvard 40th annual reunion of 1900 and is current clerk of the District Court and a former baseball captain. John Donovan, town house janitor, has returned to his duties after a long illness.
Members of the Swedish Massage School of Boston and Cambridge gathered at the Concordia 1 Stow Street to congratulate Mrs. Thur B Corey and Virginia Corey as they received diplomas. Dr. Englebert Wentworth spoke and diplomas were hung on the wall amid well wishes, followed by a dainty collation.
Rt. Rev. Henry K. Sherrill bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts confirmed a class in a grand service at St George's church Sunday. Rev. Halsey Andrews rector and S M Andrews assisted. The church choir performed a special musical program.

Parishioners filled Monument Hall last Thursday for a reception welcoming Rev Fr Walter Quinlan as pastor of St Bernard’s and St Joseph’s in Lincoln. Town officials clergy and parishioners praised his brief Concord tenure and thanked him as refreshments and dancing followed the program with performances by local musicians and the Rhythm Boys.
The King's Daughters of the First Parish church will gather in the vestry next Tuesday at 2 30 for Red Cross sewing. Mrs Henry F Smith and Mrs Herbert B Smith will host.
Willis Merrill Pearson, a Concord mechanic residing on Walden Street, died after a week of illness at H mergon hospital. The 34 year old was employed at Hodgdon Alling station on street and survived by Melanie Nina Lind Ruth McWilliams and others. Interment was at Lincoln Cemetery with bearers Charles Ralph Peterson Henry 0 Jr and Maxwell Lawrengs.
