Concord Mississippi Sigrid Olsen daughter of Mons Olsen married Wallace Addison Howes of Northampton on Saturday afternoon June 13 at the home of her sister Mrs Hugh Laughlin Robinson in Auburndale. Miss Sigrid Robinson was maid of honor for her aunt who attended Boston University. Mr Howes left Cornell to serve as a lieutenant of artillery in World War I and his son Kimball Westerly Howes was best man. The ceremony was officiated by Rev Basil D Hall of the First Congregational Church Florence.

Playground Class Opens Next Monday in Concord

The Concorde summer playground course starts Monday June 29 and runs five days a week until August 21. Daily hours are 9 30 to noon and 2 to 4 30 o clock with Milton K Paine as supervisor and Mies Hileon F Geary assisting. Concord High School Ends Term Amid Transfers And Plans For Aviation Courses

Concord High School closed on Friday June 19 with report cards issued. Over 100 pupils who left school to work did not participate in farewell. The district plans a preflight aviation summer course at Lexington Senior High June 29 to August 20 for 16 or older students, tuition three dollars plus text deposit. Notables include Gordon Allen graduate or Harvard B S Summa Cum Laude and Harry Jacobson on leave from the U S Navy as a supply man. Athletic awards are postponed due to priorities. recipients listed for varsity baseball seniors and juniors students.

Local flyer honors Rhode Island Red rooster mascot

Lowell Road resident Tompkin donated a Rhode Island Red rooster to Fort Oeaven as a prize champion for a squadron. Lieut Reberk Coleman of the AAF accepted the gift in recognition of pilots who defeated the Rhode Island Red planes. Adjutant Service pledged care for the rooster mascot.

Concord Woman Margare t Blanchard Smith Dies at 74

Margaret Blanchard Smith of Concord wife of Henry Smith died last Thursday at home after a long illness. She was 75 and a longtime Concord resident born locally. She leaves two sons and two daughters living in Connecticut and Ohio, a sister in Concord, six grandchildren, and several relatives. A former president of the Concord Female Charitable Society, she also led the Concord Musical Club and the Women's Parish Association and served in many local groups. Funeral services were held at First Parish Unitarian Church with Rev Edward Perry Daniels officiating, and interment followed at Sleepy Hollow.

Concord-The Lucky-Seven 4-H Club Seeks New Name

The Concord-The Lucky-Seven 4-H Club meets June 14 to decide a new name as membership has dwindled to six. Officers include President Susan Miller Vice President Gordon Olsen Secretary Miriam Barthus Club Reporter Betty Howe. The gathering covered first year gardening and canning requirements with a pledge and ding ceremony. A previous demonstration covered asparagus and rhubarb.

Byron Couple Celebrates Fifth Wedding Anniversary

Concord residents Mr and Mrs Thomas J Byron Sr recently marked their fifth wedding anniversary with a dinner and theatre party at Ut Union Street. The couple, long-time locals, have three sons Thomas Jr Holmes of Concord Edward of Acton and four daughters Ann who lives at home Margaret Donahue of Brighton Eleanor Mahoney of Jamaica Plain and Frances Burke of New Jersey. All but Frances attended the celebration.

Concord High School held its annual graduation at the state armory with 110 seniors, the largest class in years. Awards honored students including Stella Payler and William G. Stowe, as diplomas were presented by School Committee chair Harold Tompkins. benediction followed by the national anthem.
