Maynard High School Graduation Set With Largest Class

Maynard High School prepares for the 1930 graduation ceremony with 71 graduates the largest ever. The event includes a baccalaureate address, diplomas, and a program featuring class history essays music and vocal performances by students and faculty.

Commencement Day Exercises Held in Gymnasium

Inclement weather on Wednesday moved the commencement program to the gymnasium. Miss Elizabeth Wood led music as the upper school choir sang God Is My Strong Salvation. Rev Willard Sperry of Harvard spoke on life lessons and awards were announced by Mr Betenate. Alumnae gathered for a dinner and formed an alumnae association. selections from Makado and past school events were shown on screen.

Middlesex Society Holds Annual Meeting and Slate of Officers

The Middlesex patrons held their annual meeting on June 3. Samuel Hoar was elected president with Vice President Charles B. Brown and Clerk H Moore. Treasurers for three years include Horacette and John J. Burleigh, all accepting required oaths.

Judge Wilson Inducted Into Central District Court

Judge Howard A Wilson of Maynard was inducted as standing justice of the Central Middlesex District Court in a ceremony at the court Saturday morning. Local officials and townspeople from Maynard attended the event as bouquets and congratulations filled the room.

Death of Mrs. Mary E. Sheehan Widow of Concord Ste

Mrs. Mary E. Sheehan widow of Jeremiah Sheehan of Concord died last night at the home of her daughter Mrs. Thomas Mannion in Littleton. She was a respected longtime resident and is survived by five sons Edward Dennis Jeremiah Timothy and Robert and two daughters Mrs. John Sullivan of West Concord and Mrs. Thomas Mannion of Littleton. Funeral services will be Friday morning from the Littleton home at 8 15 with a requiem mass at 9 in West Concord.

97 Year Old Elizabeth Jones Passes in Acton

Elizabeth Jones widow of Jance Jones died at a home on School street near noon on Thursday June 13 at age 96 years 3 months and 8 days. She was Acton’s oldest citizen and the last of the Jones family. Her sister Kate Whitney had died in January and a brother George Whitney of Nashua died weeks later. Her father descended from John Whitney who came to New England in 1635. She was born November 26 1851 in Stow and lived in Acton most of her life. Five children were born to them. only Warren H Jones survives.
