Pine Grove Inn Transformation Through the Decades
The Pine Grove Inn in Marlboro evolved from an elite supper club and political hub to a rest home for elderly men. Atty Rice bought the property in 1946, planted orchards, remodeled interiors, and converted the eight acre site into a 19 acre complex with nine male residents. The residents engage in radio, games, and strolls while nurses ensure meals and cleanliness. A presidential poll among residents favored Taft and Dewey, reflecting early 20th century ties and civic life.
