Walter Johnson 27 of New York shot wife Hannah 25 on Main Street at 7 30 Tuesday night in a deliberate murder suicide. He fired three shots, then with the gun turned on himself dying about 7 40. A Finnish letter found suggests a planned murder and self harm. Johnson and Hannah had quarrels earlier and Johnson arrived from New York that morning. The scene and coroner's inquiry followed as officials described the tragedy with witnesses detailing the couple walking together before the shots.

Joseph A. Whitcomb formerly of Ruth Acton died at his Concord Junction home and was buried in Woodlawn cemetery. A community invitation extends to the following Sunday service. The May sermon on The Seed stressed growth, divine partnership, and harvest, with church activities noted and sympathy sent to the family of Lester Phillips of Somerville and Acton after his death from bronchial pneumonia.
