Memorial Day Observed With Sermon At Acton Center

ACTON CENTER Memorial Day services were held with no veterans in attendance. Mr May delivered a stirring patriotic sermon from Joshua 4 21 on the meaning of memorial stones and the ideals of the Revolution, the Civil War, and World War I. A stereopticon Hawaii lecture followed the morning service.

Col. French of West Acton gave a stirring patriotic address at Acton Centre. Graves of the G A R and Legion were decorated in the Actons in the afternoon. Dinner at Acton Centre noon under the Women's Relief Corps. A Frank J. Demars Post delegation attended the service. Local Legion Post led Maynard services under the G A R. The day was sunny and crowds at cemeteries were the largest in years.

Memorial Day Quiet Service At Mt Hope Cemetery

Memorial Day passed quietly with no band for the Boys of 61. A march from Central Square featured N. J. Cole on drums and two cornetists with Isaac Davis Post 138 led by George L. Towne and F. R. Knowlton. World War veterans, Women's Relief Corps No. 62 and schoolchildren decorated over 70 graves at Mt Hope before ceremonies moved to Maynard.
