Maynard Veterans Day Observance Honors 61 and 1917 Heroes
Maynard marked Memorial Day with large attendance as the Veterans of 1861 joined 1917 service members. The day featured a flag raising, a parade led by Isaac Davis post G A R, and speeches by Major Dolan highlighting national duties. Students, Boy Scouts, and Police formed the march, with ceremonies at Walnut Street Bridge and local cemeteries. Flowers were laid on graves at Glenwood and St Bridget’s as bands played and taps sounded. The town praised the observance, and reports noted fresh pride in the nation plus a government purchase of wrist watches for the next 90 days.
