West Concord and Rideout playground teams met in a deciding first half game. Rideout pitcher Peter McClure and hitters MeClure and Lennie Cullinane led a 5 2 run spree as West Concord scored four late runs to win. Concord added two runs late. game details continue on page 4.
The Sheehan reunion titled Army Again for Europe 28th annual gathering will be held next Sunday at Acton Center after a 10:30 mass at Our Lady Help of Christians Church West Concord. Event features prizes for newest bride youngest baby oldest attendee and longest distance traveler plus a Country Sheehans vs City Sheehans baseball game picnic lunch and sports program with Concord participants including Edward W Sheehan on the organizing committee.
Major Charles E. Allen announced that effective August 1 the Army will accept enlistments for the Army Ground Forces unassigned in Europe and the Mediterranean. White personnel only may apply in the Staff Sergeant or lower grades with a 900 monthly quota for the 1st Army to train at Fort Dix before deployment to Europe.

Concord resident Concord-Caroline L. Buttrick lends two pottery works from the Museum of Fine Arts Boston to the Concord Art Association as Exhibit of the Week. One piece is a large wine jug with a narrow foot, the other a tea bowl with a wide mouth. Both are described as subdued in color and simple in form.
The Concord Red Cross chapter ends its 1947 swim program after registering more than 600 boys and girls from Concord and nearby towns. Officials warn that next year swimming conditions at Walden Pond must improve or alternatives will be needed.
