Two girls Princes Albano of Somerville and Mary Tragall of Brooklyn were slightly injured when a car, driven by a Bedford airport serviceman, slid on gravel and struck them while they stood waiting to cross Route 2A in Concord. They were treated at Emerson Hospital. Tragall released, Albano kept overnight. Patrolman J Almon Heyliger investigated.
Concord funeral notices state committal services were held Sunday at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery for Charles H. Davenport who died July 22 in Boston in his 66th year. Burial followed at the family lot after a Church of the Covenant Boston funeral. The Davenport family was formerly well known in the area.
The Woman's Club read third summer session on Monday afternoon at Mrs. William Wadaworth's home 80 Main Street. Mrs. Edward H Warren served as hostess and introduced the program.
In Concord last Saturday SF Concord hosted an evening track meet at attendian Stadium. Hage led a fast field with a sub four minute start and a three man mile finish. Kenna, 19, now in Navy training, placed third in the 440 yard dash behind McKenna and Guida amid a controversial late scramble for position.
Funeral service for Mrs Alice H Bradshaw long time resident of South Sudbury was held Thursday at Fowler Funeral Home Maynard conducted by Rev Leslie H Barrett pastor of Memorial Congregational Church. She is survived by two children and other relatives.
More than 1000 relatives and friends attended a Sunday party at Warwick W. H Farrar road home honoring the wedding anniversary of Lincoln Town Clerk William H. Davis and his wife. The couple, longtime Concord residents, received gifts and congratulatory messages.
Marie Gregg daughter of P Witherspoon of Branchville married Lieut Russell Freeman Parsons Jr. at St Peter's Catholic Church in Columbia in a double ring ceremony. The couple announced included a reception at Wilmot Avenue, with Parsons stationed at Camp Davis and Gregg serving in the Army Nurse Corps at Camp Shelby.
Concord joined a New England wide blackout order by U S Army officials. The 90 minute alert began about 9 15 p m on July 21 and ended near 9 50 p m with the all clear. It was the longest blackout signal yet and, aside from minor violations, 100 percent effective. Col. Robert E Goodwin and Chief Air Raid Warden Roger D Swaim praised the results. About 500 civilian defense workers were mobilized.
Concord marked the 10th wedding anniversary of Attorney Maurice McWalter and his wife at 87 Main Street last Friday. Married July 23, 1933, they reside in Concord with three children Meg Nancy and Maurice Jr. McWalter, a well known local figure, has served three years as Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County at East Cambridge.
Concord plans two twilight games per evening as the league expands to six teams with the debut of West Concord. The first half ends August 2 and the second half starts August 9, prompting a schedule reorganization. Prescott beat Depot 12 to 1 for its second win in three starts while Baine led with a 41 on the hill for Hollow.
