Ernest Hensman Marra store clerk on vacation this week. John Finigan famed auctioneer sold Nestledown camp on Goose Pond road to C. C. Blake of Lexington last week.
The Middlesex county Farm Bureau picnic at Middlesex school drew a large crowd after a prior shower. Acton led attendance and won 25 of 92 points, taking the tug of war crown with John H. Holland captain and others. Edwin Fobes won shoe race prizes, while Carl Flint received the silk banner. Movies recorded the event for members.
Mrs Elizabeth Dumaine petitions the East Cambridge divorce court to increase alimony from Frederick C. Dumaine. She received 10 000 dollars in the 1919 decree and has been getting 830 33 dollars monthly since. She says current support is insufficient to live properly, while his income is reported at 150 000 dollars and wealth around two million.
Auction scheduled for Saturday July 6 at 9 30 A M to sell four horses one colt fourteen months old cows five heifers wagons carts harnesses haying machinery farm tools and household furniture. Farm sold and McNiff to vacate in August sale rain or shine lunch served cattle and horses sold at eleven o clock.
John Greene longtime Maynard resident was found dead in bed Friday at Assabet House on Main Street by proprietor John Sackalow. Coroner R W Hunter cited heart trouble. He was 76, born in Newfoundland, survived by daughter Mrs John McNiff of Providence and son John Greene of Woonsocket. Burial at St Bridget's cemetery after rites at St Bridget's Church.
Mildred Farrell, seven, daughter of Mrs Margaret Farrell, suffered serious injuries when she ran from behind an ice cart into an automobile driven by Edward Boeske on Powder Mill road. She remains on the dangerous list at Deaconess hospital in Concord with skull base fractures and severe contusions. Boeske, said to be a careful driver, was distraught but deemed not to blame by a physician.
The Double Triangle club honored the silver wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Charles Polep at Acton on Sunday. Louis Rickles gave them a silver fruit dish as the club gift, with attendees including Benjamin Gruber Eli Kessler Samuel Kessler Leon Noi groski Dora Sherr Anna Sherr Ethel and Henry Rives Julius Anna Rose and Lipsi Siger.
Local notices list Frank Carr buying a Ford touring car and numerous residents spending weekends or vacations at Whitehorse Beach Plymouth Onset York Beach and Lake Quinsigamond. Trips include visits to Canada and Ste Anne de Beaupre with family or friends.
Friends gathered at Miss Ina McCabe’s home on Friday evening to surprise her for a sixteenth birthday. The party featured games, vocal and instrumental selections, and dancing on the veranda with numerous attendees including McCabe relatives and friends.

The Acton Center Sunday school picnic along Fort Pond featured hemlock shade a swing bathhouse and an ice cream stand. People of all ages attended from four months to 80 years with Mr May directing sports and Mr Edwards shuttling attendees between the church and grounds as perfect weather held.
The 14th annual land party and dance by Acton Grange P of H No 259 attracted large crowds. A full moon and calm wind lit the scene with Japanese lanterns while the Maynard Brass Band and Highland Orchestra of West Somerville provided music for outdoor concert and dancing.
Bedford residents hosted company over the weekend and attended a Braves Field double header. The Bedford Civic Club plans a trip to Portland. Miss Ellen Kelley enjoys a two week vacation from Woolworths in Boston. Bedford teams played St Bridget's Boys Club at Parker Field and defeated a Waltham nine 8 1 with umpires Blackburn and McMahon. Dutchie hit a home run in a 7 to 6 loss at Rye Beach and the battery was Leonard and Sullivan.
