Funeral services were held for Mrs. Mabelle Harriet Elmes 73 who died last Wednesday in North Adams where she had worked as a housekeeper. The MacRae Funeral Home in Concord hosted the service with Rev. Kenneth R Teed presiding. Burial followed at Sleepy Hollow cemetery. Worst Storm Since 1938 Sweeps Area With Gale Force Winds
A fierce storm, the strongest since 1938, struck Tuesday afternoon with hurricane like winds. It felled branches, toppled trees, knocked out electric lights and hampered telephone service. In Concord a lightning bolt hit a three story barn on Main Street causing a two hour fire and 5 000 dollars in damage. The barn housed 1 500 snow scoops, pine lumber, and heavy wrapping paper from the Concord Woodworking Co.

Maynard reports Vern Decker 32 formerly of Obskland Maine and Chester Montana appeared in Concord District Court on abduction charges. He pleaded guilty to theft and not guilty on abduction, awaiting Middlesex County Jail in 6000 bail. A 15 year old Maynard girl vanished nine months ago and was found in Union City New Jersey with Decker. The pair were charged with loitering and Decker implicated in selling a saddle and horse for 15 dollars to fund a honeymoon.
