Concord Girl Scouts organized in 1925 Concord NC
In fall 1925 a Girl Scout troop formed in Concord with Frances Wheeler as captain, growing to 44 girls by winter. A Community Committee led by Mrs. Howard Key supported troops financially and logistically. New troops formed under Mrs. Juallou and Miss Mary Sargent, with Eunice Rossman as lieutenant, while Miss Ellen Gramkow led another unit. Weekly meetings were scheduled at the State Armory, homes, and the Ripley school sewing room. A November benefit film raised about 160 for armory renovations, equipment, and dues. A March bridge party aims to cover rising costs. The December Candle-lighting investiture enrolled twelve tenderfoots, highlighting the girls’ grasp of Scout laws and ideals.
