Sevaca W Hall longtime Sudbury chief of police and fire chief seeks re election as constable at the March town meeting. He is a well known citizen, 20 years in constable service, with prior public offices and a respected, conservative record.
Maynard February 9. Waine Anderson 31 D. D. veteran son of Vic Anderson of 28 McKinley Street reported fatally wounded and sent to New York hospital. A sister, a nurse, traveled to New York and confirmed the body was not their son. She identified the true body of Lt James J Mansld of Concord killed in action.
The police department held a motorcycle demonstration and recommended adding motor cycles to the official equipment. The Finance committee also backs the report, noting motorcycles are an important factor in police work today.
Police report a break in at Cellulose Profits Inc on Power Mill road with $190 cash missing after entry through a cellar window. Detective John Connors leads the investigation from Aston with the department following the case.

An all day program opened the fortieth anniversary celebration of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Concord. Miss Sigrid Olsen led Sunday school, Rev. Chas. B. Pederson conducted morning worship, and Dr. George H. Spencer of Cambridge spoke at the anniversary address. Evening services featured Rev. Smith Owen Dexter and Ledlie N. Smith with a musical program. A midweek musical program and Fellowship Night are planned with speakers from neighboring parishes and Maynard Methodist choirs.
The Athletic Association of the High school hosts a fancy dress party in the Town Hall on Thursday evening July 17. The Mage town is invited to attend to raise funds for baseball equipment.
Mrs. Fannie Porter is confined to bed with a severe cold. Mr. and Mrs B E Hall entertained Miss Esther Earls of Fitenburg over the weekend. Miss Mary Pendelton of Somerville spent the weekend with Miss Portia Hardy. Mr. and Mrs Ernest Alsop occupy the Gore house in South Acton after the Bursaws moved.
Mr. Ernest Teele died at Deaconess Hospital Boston after weeks of treatment for pernicious anemia. Born 1878 in West Acton, he attended Acton High School then Saxton River Academy, marrying Martha Shattuck and working on a farm. He was a Baptist deacon and is survived by his wife, two brothers, a sister, four sons, two daughters, and two grandchildren. Funeral at West Acton Baptist Church with Rev. The Girl Scouts hosted a Silver Tea last Wednesday afternoon with proceeds donated to the Woman's Club. Mrs Charles Hardy and Mrs Edith Newell assisted in serving while the newly formed ukulele club performed. The event ended with a pleasant social hour and featured members Bar mints and others.
The Concord Board of Trade held its February session at West Concord School with president W. Stuart Allen presiding. Watson M. Gordon of Warren and Co. spoke on advertising methods while a secret committee for member advertising was created and the by laws amended to set quorum at nine.
Percy R. Foss won first prize with a net score of 22 at the Concord Rod and Gun Club skeet event. Martin Bulger took second with 18, while "Cluck" Bulger earned third with 17 in a handicap shoot.

Middlesex School varsity hockey versus Newton High at Middlesex rink was postponed due to poor ice. Miss Helen Peterson led a Young Peoples Club meeting at Triniarian Congregational church on the topic Faith it Man. Intergrade gymnastic meet between Peter Bulkeley Emerson Schools upper grades postponed to later in the month. Co H 182nd Infantry Minnesota voted to discontinue basketball season due to lack of home-game support. The basketball five was fast and showed creditable form.
Concord Council Knights of Columbus hosts a turkey supper at Monument Hall on Thursday evening last week. A committee led by Thomas J. McGann Sr oversaw the event with Joseph McKenna Edward Finan Edward Flavin James Ryan Daniel Sullivan Richard B. MacSweeney and Terrence McHugh guiding the arrangements. Fifteen Lowell Council members contributed an entertaining post supper program.
Ernest Chadwick of Farmcrest Avenue Lexington was found guilty in district court for operating an automobile in a manner endangering the public after striking Seabury Short of Concord who was changing a tire by the side of the road. Chadwick was fined $50. Short was seriously injured but recovering.
During the first half of the school year ending January 28, Harvey Wheeler School reports 95.48 percent attendance. Eighty-two pupils had perfect attendance, with 37 percent of Grade V and 33 percent of Grade 2F never absent.
