Funeral for Frank W Hoit Held in South Acton
Frank W Hoit died February 6 1933 in South Acton after aiding in a fire call. The funeral February 9 1933 at Congregational church drew large crowds including town officials and fire department. He led Axton Department store and held multiple town offices. Survived by wife Evelyn Ward and daughter Hazel Scott plus three brothers. Interment at Mt Hope cemetery West Acton.

A stucco house at 12 Third Street belonging to Louis Boeske was destroyed by a Thursday morning fire that started during pipe thawing. Firemen arrived too late to check the blaze. loss is estimated at $5600 with partial insurance, leaving only bare walls and frozen water on gear.

In Monument Hall Friday evening the Hibernians 36 beat the Knights of Columbus 34 and the Concord Rod and Gun Club 30 in the fifteenth round. Captain Hopkins team led with 18 wins while three others tied for second, as Concord Council lags eight games behind. A large Concord crowd filled Veterans Building Monday night to back W Lincoln Smith in the Citizens caucus. Smith defeated Ralph Piper 286 to 166 for the three year Board of Selectmen seat. Other nominations included Joseph King over Arthur C King for road commissioner, Richard McSweeney over Robert Brewster for the library board, and two women named to town offices. The annual town election is February 27 and town meeting March 6.
