Mary Cecelia V and other residents support a Red Cross drive at Middlesex school. Refreshments will be served, and the event opens at 7 30 p m. The effort benefits the Saving Corps under Dr Barrow.
The committee delivering bylaws has printed copies for circulation. A special meeting at Exchange Square rooms on Wednesday Feb 15 offers an open discussion for citizens to review the warrant articles and privileges. Charles L. Nicholas of Dorchester visited Charles H. Miles in Maynard over the weekend.
Miss Elizabeth Hall remains at home from Bradford college. L W Perkins tended the ice house at Grassy Pond. Albert Littlefield is ill at home with two nurses. R A Reia Jr returned from the hospital last week. Mrs Vose stays with A L Blanchard for winter. J B Hoar builds a double garage for Geo W Mead at Park. Warren Hayward recovering after operation at Mass General Boston. Miss Alice Blaisdell came home from Mass General Boston last week. Enterprise ads pay best.
Maynard held a small election with 783 votes cast out of 1787 registered. The surprise was the defeat of Overseer of Poor incumbent Thomas Wright, as Thomas King won with 425 votes to Wright 317. Selectmen results re elected Edwin Carlton 553, Charles Keene 488, Frank S. Binks 478. George Jamieson 304.
Henry Dingley Coolidge long time clerk of the Massachusetts Senate dies suddenly aboard a train. A great student author and authority on law and procedure he served the Senate for 33 years and helped shape state legislative practice. He was born August 26, 1868 in Chelsea and lived in Concord most of his life. He married Rose Cutter in 1886 and left four children. His death follows a long career at the State House beginning as assistant clerk in 1880s and rising to clerk in 1889.
