Meeting of West Concord Woman's Club Discusses Art in Education

West Concord Woman's Club held its regular meeting on February 3 with a large audience listening to Royal Farnum of the Norman Art School Boston speak on Art in its relation to public school education. After adjournment tea was served with Mrs Gladys Park as hostess.

News arrives of the death of Mrs Harry Armour at her Green Hill home Nantasket. Mrs Armour was well known in the area where she and Mr Armour lived for several years. Mr Armour serves as a police officer at Green Hill.

Town Officers Annual Election on Monday February 13

Voters will choose two town officers in the annual election with independents Jamieson for Board of Selectmen and King for Overseers of the Poor. Wright expected to win but opposition stems from GOP tensions. Also posts for postmaster debated and provisions on prohibition and town fiscal matters on the docket.

Special Service Marks Feast of St Bridget at St Bridget's Church

The Feast of St Bridget was observed with a 10 30 a m solemn mass at St Bridget's Church led by Rev Edward F Crowley with deacon Rev John J Sweeney sub deacon Rev Edwin Walsh and a large torch bearing and choir participation. An evening sermon by Rev Edwin Walsh followed with decor and music highlighted by solos from James Farrell William Scully Richard Hilferty and Esther Lowney. Additional notices include Rev David Mathews of Paul's Brockton preaching at St George's next Sunday and Rev Dr Allan W Cook from Japan preaching Feb 14 at Parish Hall services.

South Acton School Notes and Scout Activities

Miss Marian visited the oy nus club and the sewing club began work on December with 17 members completing 705 hours of housework 91 socks darned and 17 garments nearly finished. Girl Scouts qualified in knot tying and won by Florence Clifford in a five knot contest. Boy Scouts aided the girls. Cockadoodie Crew toured poultry farms of Roland Johnson and Kenneth Bursaw for a useful lesson. Parent-Teachers Association meeting set for February 3 at South Acton Improvement Association rooms. Captain Dumaine of Concord to speak on Girl Scout ideals. Readied funds from the food sale to support Girl Scouts and PTA needs.

Enginger Wells Hurt Foot in Marlboro Train Accident

Locomotive engineer Leona R D Wells on the Marlboro branch of the B and MR met an accident Wednesday afternoon after backing a car in the yard. His left foot was crushed when it was caught under a lever as the engine disabled. He was freed after several minutes with aid from his fellow engineer.
